EditoMEILLEURS VOEUX pour cette année 2012, here we are... Commençons par les bonnes nouvelles, Glamario fut un véritable succès, allant au delà de mes espérances, un voyage dont je me souviendrai longtemps, d’ailleurs je suis présélectionné comme photographe mode et beauté avec Bettina Rheims et François Rousseau à participer à l’édition FOTORIO 2012 qui se tiendra à Rio en juin prochain...
L’année commence bien, désormais citoyen français, je me sens honoré de faire partie de cette communauté de laquelle je me sens proche au niveau de la paix, de la liberté d’expression et d’une certaine égalité, et je veux la représenter au mieux. Que de perspectives à venir pour 2012 !!
Cette première rencontre entre Mario et le Brésil s’annonce comme le début d’une collaboration foisonnante.La diversité ethnique brésilienne, creuset de talents, sera le fer de lance de plusieurs projets de création : beauté, mode, designers, et moult potentiels artistiques représentant tout l’éventail de la population brésilienne.Valoriser la beauté afro-brésilienne sera donc pour Mario Epanya l’opportunité de créer un échange de savoir-faire entre la création française et brésilienne.

IT girlgrew up here, there, everywhere. I have
lived in Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago and the UK - has been a rich journey. My love
for Creativity and the Arts began at the age of 6. I was going through lots of difficulty in my family life and my expressive outlet was
singing, music, films (when I was allowed to watch them) and general journaling – which eventually lead to poetry. Over the years, I continued writing –s this was the only outlet I had. I tried dance as I loved it but was banned by my father. I also started to enjoy art in secondary school. By this time, I knew I wanted to be a creative and wanted to go on to study performing arts but was also banned by my father. I studied Business and Law, with some Social Psychology through college and university. By this time, due to circumstances, I lost contact with my entire family and became homeless. This was the first time I was free but also a very scary time. However, it was also a time of freedom. I joined a local community drama group. Around this time, I remember booking a photo shoot as something fun and random for my boyfriend at the time. He didn’t particularly take to the idea but we decided it would be a ‘bonding experience’ eventually... We went for the shoot and got these photos after a while.
I was told I should consider modelling but never took it seriously because it seemed a world away..!
I was informed by a friend about a fashion show celebrating young fashion designers (which also consisted of a modelling competition) -this was around July 2009. I applied, sent in a few of the pictures and got through! I was hugely surprised, hugely nervous and hugely excited. I was asked to bring my own foundation just in case (I didn’t even know what this was at the time! - Yes I grew up a bit of a tomboy and had more serious issues to deal with than make up). That was the start of the journey; I was trained to walk and got the confidence to go to a few more castings. I didn’t have a clue how this would turn out or the how to’s, who to’s and where to’s. I remember going to a casting and being told I was a disgrace to ‘ethnic’ models (my shoes were too big so I kept looking down and I was slightly nervous so he proceeded to destroy my existence) - ha. I watched a documentary on the world’s oldest people and remember seeing a lady who had never travelled but now couldn’t because she was too old to. I also read something along these lines : 20yrs from now, you will be more disappointed by d things u didn’t do than by d ones you did do-so throw off d bowlines, Sail away from d safe harbour, Catch the trade winds in your sails! Explore - Dream - Discover!!! :).

decided to pursue my passions regardless of the opposition (which now started coming
from my partner and some friends at the time). I began applying for castings, sending info off to agencies, dealing with lots of rejection and lots of acceptance! There is too much to write
to summarise the journey but its safe to say I have learnt a lot, been challenged a lot, worked with a lot of interesting people I never thought I would work with, life has been an adventure, my character has taken a huge trip through the university of life, I have acquired some of the most amazing and understanding friends and contacts and I am having the time of my life – high hill or low valley. Why am I passionate about modelling? I love the creativity I come across everyday – it inspires me to write, it inspires me to be better - because iron sharpens iron and being surrounded by good work helps you want to do good work too. It allows me the freedom I crave, I get to be in an environment where the possibilities are pretty much endless and you get accolade for being part of the package that makes that happen – that is very satisfying. Modelling also opened me up to exploring my love for hair, make up, styling and fashion film choreography. To be express my self in a different way has also been hugely rewarding and I have gotten to work with big names in fashion though to TV. Modelling, some accomplishments include but are not limited to: Graduate Fashion Week, Graduate Fashion Week, Lida O’Reilly, The Sugababes, Romero Bryan, Joey Bevan at Britain and Irelands Next Top Model Live, Boy London, Adidas, Bastyan, Pierre Garroudi .etc... . Modelling for me is part of my wider Love for expression and creativity. I love it and look forward to more and to better – and across the border (with music and with acting).

OSkAR«Mon processus créatif commence par une scène, une histoire, un style, un concept que je crée à partir de quelque chose que je souhaite ou que je veux expérimenter. A partir de là, je crée le climat, l’ambiance, les regards et les attitudes. Dans la plupart des cas, je conçois la campagne avant même la collection. Peut-être que c’est pour ça que j’aime faire la direction artistique de la fusillade. Je crée l’atmosphère de l’histoire et filme moi-même, à travers ces films, je peux partager ce que j’ai imaginé. La scène au début du processus. Les pièces sont conçues pour être le costume de mon film et on peut «le voir» dans chaque détail de la collection. Je suis seulement satisfait lorsque les éléments proposés pour chaque pièce, les couleurs, les textures et les silhouettes sont utilisés par les personnages du film que j’ai créé»

Mon projet – etni&Cidade IntroductionLe thème ethnicité peut, de nos jours, se décliner de multiples façons. C’est dans cet univers que se situe mon sujet. Les recherches d’éléments culturels d’origine africaine, source d’inspiration pour la conception du projet amènent à une «ethnicité» reconnue présente dans les racines culturelles dans ses aspects les plus divers.
Le titre du projet - «EtNI&CIDADE» - représente la fusion d’une pensée ethnique et d’un regard urbain qui donnent lieu à des actions culturelles d’identités precises et contemporaines.
La dynamique du projet est sensée conduire à une refléxion poussée sur la creativité, au travers d’une expérimentation diffénte d’une activité purement empirique et autodidacte, y compris des éléments techniques et de recherche.
Une partie de cette dynamique est représentée dans l’exposition des instruments de musique.
ProgrammationLes activités du projet sont divisées en trois parties:
- Exposition d’instruments de musique ethniques, art alternatif avec un ensemble de masques thématiques, objets de décoration et des parures personnelles.- Performance musicale melangeant «playback» d’une création musicale (un répertoire inédit en CD) et l’utilisation directe des instruments de musique modernes ainsi que des instruments expérimentaux du projet (collection d’instruments inédits de ma propre création).

Objectif
L’objectif global est de rassembler les bénévoles Educafro, les bénéficiaires et en faveur de cette cause, la lutte pour l’inclusion des Noirs, en particulier, et les pauvres en général, les universités publiques, la priorité, ou une université privée avec une bourse d’études afin pour permettre la mobilité sociale et l’autonomisation des pauvres et afro-brésilienne.
Les objectifs de l’Educafro spécifiques qui contribuent à l’accomplissement de sa mission: organiser et diriger l’élaboration Les noyaux de pré-universitaire (nouveaux centres) autour de la périphérie du Brésil, offrant l’apparence de nouveaux dirigeants et les citoyens concernés dans les communautés et les universités, les universités et l’éducation civique à travers des classes de maîtres communautaires bénévoles dans les cours préparatoires ainsi: · Soumettre des propositions de politiques publiques et l’action positive à la magistrature exécutive, législative et;
· Diffuser les principes et les valeurs qui contribuent à la radicale changement social au Brésil et dans les Amériques, basé sur les idéaux chrétiens et les franciscains;
Wake en responsabilité et permettre l’autonomie des personnes à surmonter les difficultés faisant les protagonistes de ses histoires;
· Favoriser radicalement, l’organisation des groupes sociaux et populaire comme un outil de transformation sociale et de la pression au sein de l’Etat.
La mission Educafro est de promouvoir l’inclusion des personnes noires (en particulier) et les pauvres (en général), dans les universités publiques et privées sur les bourses, grâce au service de ses bénévoles / dans les noyaux des pré-universitaire et des secteurs communautaires son siège national sous la forme d’un effort commun.
Dans toutes ses activités, la lutte EDUCAFRO pour l’état de s’acquitter de ses responsabilités par le biais de politiques publiques et l’action positive dans l’éducation...

Né à copacabana ,il y aune vingtaine d’années ,Anderson a grandi sur les plages de cette dernière ,depuis sa tendre enfance ,il rêve de devenir surfeur ,avec un groupe d’amis ,ils se retrouvent après l’école pour taquiner quelques vagues ,Bon vivant et toujours joyeux ,Anderson est remarqué l’année dernière sur la plage par un responsable de l’association CRJ,une association d’aide aux jeunes des favellas qui s’intéressent à l’Art et .il l’inscrit aux cours d’expression corporelle ,Son charisme et sa beauté fait le reste ,Studieux ,il apprend très vite et commençe à faire de figurations dans des publicités et quelques défilés,Son rêve était d’être un surfeur professionnel, mais il commençe plutôt à faire des vagues en tant que mannequin, Anderson veut reussir et gagner assez d’argent afin d’aider ma famille et les personnes de ma communauté à Cantagalo, développer des infrastructures pour que la jeunesse puisse avoir accès à la culture et aux médias.
Après une visite à l’association CRJ dans la favella de Cantagalo ,je croise un ange sur le chemin du retour, nos regards se croisent, timide, il baisse des yeux, je vais vers lui et je me présente et lui propose de poser pour moi. Il s’appelle Anderson Costa .... - MARIO EPANYA

anduir Gomes est né au Brésil, en septembre, un jour de printemps d’Amérique Latine.
Est-ce un signe prémonitoire, pour un styliste, que de naître au moment où la nature déborde
de couleurs et d’exotisme? D’une famille de six enfant, trois frères et trois sœurs, Wanduir aimait à rester auprès de sa mère pendant qu’avec sa machine à coudre, elle confectionnait des robes, des pantalons ou encore des cabas en jean de récupération pour en faire des cartables. Plus grand, sur le chemin de retour de l’école, il a pour rituel de s’arrêter dans les maisons de tissus où il passe des moments de réel plaisir et de rêve à observer et toucher les matières. Un jour, il commence à acheter des tissus et à réaliser ses propres chemises. Dans le choix des matières, l’originalité et la qualité sont ses maîtres mots. Bien que, pour faire plaisir à son père, Wanduir doive partir suivre des cours de biochimie médicale, il continue à se former aux métiers de la mode en s’inscrivant en parallèle dans la même université, à des cours de stylisme.
Il se met alors à habiller ses soeurs et ses amies...Toutes sont unanimes pour reconnaître son talent et

encourager à persister dans sa vocation.Une fois ses études terminées, et malgré
son diplôme de biochimie en poche, il fait le choix d’aller plus loin : adieu amis, collègues,
parents, il s’envole alors pour Paris.A son arrivée en France, Wanduir met un point d’honneur à son intégration dans ce nouveau pays (le premier monde comme on l’appelle au Brésil).
C’est pourquoi il s’inscrit rapidement à des cours de français, tout en retrounant sur les bancs d’école pour compléter sa formation de styliste et apprendre le métier de modéliste.
Dans une même lancée, il multiplie ses expériences au sein des Maisons Infinitif, puis Yamamoto, pour arriver à la Maison Hermès.

ach country has its reputation and Brazil does not miss out. Women with sculptural bodies sunbathing on sandy beaches, great ability for football, and listening to samba while
drinking lime Caipirinha. These are considered trademarks of this tropical country, and it is the best summary of what I hear from most of those who visit or want to visit it. At least before they get carried away by the most diverse rhythms and adventure themselves into dishes that even many Brazilians do not know. A country with continental dimensions which houses so many different cultures, that in a trip from north to south, we may think that we are no longer on Brazilian soil. The diversity is in everything, food, music, temperature, accents, color of the skin and the mix of ethnics.
All this mixture had its beginning 500 years ago with the arrival of Europeans, mostly Portuguese, witch, while seeking a way around the Atlantic Ocean to reach India, were faced with the Brazilian forests and their inhabitants. They realized that this piece of land was an important strategic point both geographically and economically. And with commercial interests in mind, began what would be one of the largest forced migrations of Africans. For nearly three hundred years, slave ships docked along the coast bringing slave labor to work on farms and plantations. Some cities got to have more Africans inhabitants than Europeans and natives together. In turn, the Native Indians were seen as potential guides in forests and also for its workforce. Many fought to defend their land, but fell to the firearms of the invaders. Today there is a struggle to achieve the conservation of some remaining villages in northern Brazil. But even with all these problems, by relating with each other, those ethnic groups, provided the mixture that would generate the Brazilian people.
Time passed, and today, we can still see many of the scars left by a history marked by acts of violence. As a history student, I come across fragments of colonization that make me think about the limits of greed, selfishness and the wickedness of man, but also the beauty that miscegenation and cultural exchange can bring to a country´s people. And the

ruth is that even not being the most beautiful story, this blend generated for us a beautiful
diversity.
Today, we can still find groups that are isolated from this mixture. Such as colonies of Italians in the south of Brazil, with people who can barely speak Portuguese, and Indian tribes that are unaware of the existence of others. However, if we have to answer today what most defines us as a people, besides living in a single national territory, it is the mix that shows up as the main unity characteristic. And that became a trademark. Creativity, swing, good humor, warmth and ability to get up after falls led us to create the saying: “I am Brazilian and never give up.” These are some of the features we are proud of, and we know that they are not particular of a single type of person, but the coexistence of several.
From the Europeans, we have the language, Portuguese, and we are mostly Catholics, although this is changing. The carnival, our great party, came with the Lusitanian settlers and is celebrated differently in different cities, like Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and Olinda. They all stop to street festivals packed with a lot of Samba, Axé, Frevo and Maracatu. Sounds born of rhythmic music and dancing that is fruit of our African roots.
In religion, some worship deities as Iemanjá, known as the queen of the sea. And she is the reason why every year, on New Year’s Eve, the beaches are filled with white flowers that are put into the sea as offerings. Interestingly, many ask for her protection despite not being religious. As Iemanjá, Oshun, Shango and Iansã several other deities are part of Candomblé�s pantheon. Incidentally, this religion is the result of syncretism between Catholic saints and African deities brought by the slaves, that, when seeing themselves prohibited from their cult practices began to create matches. What eventually resulted in a genuinely Brazilian religion where the faithful worship images of both religions. From the Native Indians, herbal treatments and medicinal plants. Just as some typical dishes found in the north such as fish soup. Moreover, the Indian culture has great influence in the stories we hear as
a children, from pink dolphins that turn into men at night and make women fall in love, to giant snakes that live in rivers of calm muddy water. São Paulo has one of the largest Japanese colonies in the world, and promotes a different experience, to say the least. You can go into Japanese antiques stores and find 60 year old ladies in sales counters that even living in the city for more than thirty years, do not speak Portuguese and barely understand it. In Santa Catarina we have our Oktoberfest, a party originally German fueled by beer, sausages and sauerkraut. And so on from north to south and east to west.
But, like any place with different kinds of people, we have to deal with a problem that I see the whole world is facing: prejudice. I think because of our day to day, where, as we say here: “we must kill one lion a day”, we close ourselves more and more in the realities we create. And quite often, in this reality, where we forget to do simple things like read a different book, watch a movie, try a new flavor or take a walk to break the routine, to allow the entry of someone else becomes an even more complicated thing to do.Perhaps for fear of losing control over things if we allow others to interfere, or maybe because of insecurities created by various types of problems and obstacles we face in our day to day. We become skeptical about the entry of more opinions in our lives. After all, if we already have enough work to solve problems with our own points of view, imagine from others!? And then we go deeper and deeper into a way of seeing and experiencing the world that can lead us to think, that our opinions are absolute, and that what we know is all we need to achieve success.
The Nigerian writer Chimamanda Adichie speaks of the danger of a single story, of having one single point of view about things that surround us. In the rush of every day we usually don’t stop to think of how people with physical disabilities or victims of prejudice - either because of skin color, age, sexual orientation or lifestyle - can provide different ways of seeing the world and make us see our problems from different angles. And very often, provide more efficient solutions than the ones from those we consider similar to us.

I feel that one of the greatest difficulties of man is to embrace all this diversity. In Brazil, the plurality is presented in a way, but each country, state, region has its own. We still need to let our insecurities and fears aside and realize that others with their experiences can enrich us. Or even make us realize that we are on the right track with the decisions we make. But even for that, I think that seeing other experiences, to understand other forms of problems and solutions found by others can provide a rich way of self-growth.
I propose that we see the world as children. For whom the idea of difference does not exist until someone says something or someone is different. And because of their unique way of seeing the world, without the preconceived ideas that adults create, a simple “do you want to play with me?” can be the beginning of long lasting friendships. Everything for the small ones is new and fascinating. The boundary between the eyes of a child and the world is not in what separates them, as we see in maps dividing cities, countries and continents. For them, the boundary is a place where their curiosity meets the new. It is a place of addition not subtraction.
Let’s fascinate ourselves with the world, caring less about what we have been told, but believing in our investigation and critical thinking. We have to question whether the rules by which we live are really the best for our well-being and self-growth. Let’s see diversity as an opportunity, a chest full of surprises, worth opening. If only to remember what it was like being a kid and not be afraid to experiment, change, challenge and delight with our findings about the world and about ourselves.
