Liebe Schülerinnen und Schüler der Klasse 9d,

ich hoffe euch allen geht es soweit gut. Eigentlich habe ich gedacht, dass wir uns diese Woche

wiedersehen werden und nach einer kurzen Wiederholung gemeinsam mit der Lektüre „The Australian Connection“ anfangen können. Leider wird dies erst mal nicht klappen. Aus diesem

Grund haben wir uns mit den anderen Kollegen aus dem Jahrgang dazu entschieden, euch zu

beauftragen, selbstständig mit der Lektüre und den vier Arbeitsblättern anzufangen. Ihr habt dazu bis zum Ende des Monats Mai Zeit. Wie wir das später benoten und ob wir später noch eine oder

zwei Arbeiten schreiben, kann ich zur Zeit nicht sagen. Die Lösungen habe ich daher nicht hinzugefügt.

Wenn ihr Probleme habt oder die Arbeitsblätter nicht drucken könnt, meldet euch bei mir. Im

Notfall und nur nach Absprache mit mir dürft ihr in die Schule kommen, um euch die Arbeitsblätter abzuholen.

Work Plan for your ‘Reader’s Diary’

Deadline (Abgabetermin): Friday, 29th May 2020

Things to remember:

a) Collect your papers and worksheets in an extra folder.b) Use your best handwriting!c) Always write down the task you are working on and the date.d) After you have completed all the tasks, mark the page numbers in your ‘Reader’s

Diary’.

List of Tasks:

1. Before Reading:My first thoughts. Look at the title and cover. What could the text be about? Write down five ideas or associations.

2. While Reading: The characters. Collect information on the different characters and their traits in the novel. You can make a chart or a cluster.

3. After Reading chapter 1 + 2:Work on the Reading Comprehension (use the worksheet N°1 that is attached)

4. After Reading chapters 8, 9 + 10:Work on the Reading Comprehension (use the worksheet N°3 that is attached)

5. After Reading the whole novel:a) My favourite chapter. (What is it about? Where does it take place? Who is in?

Why do I like it?)b) Alex keeps a diary. Choose a scene from the book and write Alex’s diary entry.c) What is the relationship between the characters. Draw a relationship diagram

(Beziehungsdiagramm) with the character’s names and lines or arrows that show their relation to each other.

d) Vocabulary Practice: Work on worksheet N°2 (attached) – pp. 58-71 might help.e) Create a new cover for the book. (You can draw, glue or be creative in every way.)f) Choose a scene and make a picture story of it. There should be at least 3 pictures.g) My last thoughts: Did you like the book. What did and didn’t you like? Give

reasons. Would you recommend the book to other people. If yes, who – do you think - should read it and why?
