International Workshop & Seminars

Building PrototypesShowcase

Design Hub Barcelona, 2011.

Design to Destruction cluster at SG2010 focused on structural optimization through information driven design, analysis, prototyping and testing. A simple and controlled exercise was to be developed individually. An MDF board was to be set up as a restrained beam, and loaded until the structure failed.

Image sampling was used to inform and “perforate” the board strategically in relation to lower stress areas. Design solutions where compared for performance-efficiency (area/load ratio).

ideaa tea house within the Taiwanese tradition is a social space of transition unlike the ritual rigor behind the Japanese version,

therefore an ethereal, blurred and sharp space was conceived, fading out between outside and inside; between transparency

and opacity

subdivisionmultiple frames go through an iterative subdivision process varying the resolution

of a pattern where areas of opacity and transparency are pointed out by “attractors” that define the finer lattice structure

exhibition and final assemblyfinal exhibition outside the Museum of Contemporary Art in Taipei was set-up by Taiwanese students fro NCTU.

texture, color and ambiencethe highly structured system of orientation in parc la villette corresponds not only to the narrative behind the folie

grid, but also with the discontinuous lines of vegetation; landscape additions for the opera contribute to enforce a cinematic promenade and an ambiguous ambience that highlights and conceals the new opera building

doubly-curved and faceted surfacesa series of studies and 1:1 models were built to test the application and tiling of materials on complex surfaces throughout the project
