Wuyi Study Tour 2010

The students and the delegates were welcomed by the Fortress Paint Company.

In the first day, the students

had visited the Fortress Paint Company (廣東千色花化工), a

famous paint company in

WuYi area. Established in

1998, Fortress Paint focused

in producing environmental

friendly paint products. The

products of Fortress Paint

were being accredited by the

State Government of China.

In this visit, students had the

chance to experience the

famous brand of Fortress

Paint, MP7 and use it to draw

painting.

The Marketing Manager of Fortress Paint, Ms. Vivian

Chao, introduced the company background of Fortress Paint to students.

Ms. Vivian Chao explained the product

characteristics of MP7, one of the famous

brands of Fortress Paint to students and

teachers.

The students and teachers were being

introduced the textures and effects

produced by different products of Fortress

Paint.

The manager of Hong Kong operations,

Mr. Daniel Yeung (second left from the

back) led the delegates to the production

facilities of Fortress Paint.

Ms. Vivian Chao explained the production

details to the students in the production

line of Fortress Paint.

chance to use the MP7 paint to create

their innovative drawings.

Four photos at the bottom: The students

were divided into groups to create their

paintings. After, they had a sharing

session to explain the finished arts.


Dr. Cyril Tse accepted the souvenir from

the representative of Fortress Paint. It is a

football with all the team managers signed

in First Jiangmen League in China.

After the sharing session, students sign

their name on the paintings. Students

were being invited to leave their arts in

Fortress Paint for exhibition.

The president of Fortress Paint, Mr. Leslie

Wong, selected the best painting among

various teams and presents the students

with gifts.

Dr. Cyril Tse presented a painting drawn

by our students using MP7 to Mr. Leslie

Wong, the President of Fortress Paint

Company.

The students were visited to the Bird

Paradise, a famous sight-seeing spot in

WuYi.

Two photos at the bottom: The students

were led to the night market, located in

the downtown area of Jiangman city, to

experience the daily life of local citizen.


In the second day, with the help of the

local government officials, the students

were led to the water treatment plant in

WuYi. At there, the staff explained to us

how the waste water generate by the

general household were being treated.

Students were impressed that the waste

water after treatment was so clear (refer

to the photo located at the lower-right

corner in this page).


After the students had a general

understanding on the treatment on household waste water, they were led to

visit the manufacturing process of jeans (refer to the two photos located at the

bottom in this page). During the dying of jeans, industrial waste water in dark color

with toxic was generated (refer to the photo below). In this visit, students

learnt how the industrial waste water become clear water that even allow fish

to live (refer to the photo located at the middle-right in this page).


The last visit spot is the Dachangjiang

Group Company Limited (大長江集團), one

of the top motorcycle manufacturers in

China. Dachangjiang has a number of manufacturing plants in China. With the

manufacturing plant in WuYi alone, it can manufacture over three million

motorcycles per year. In this tour, students not only visited the show room

of motorcycles, they also had the chance

to walk through the whole assembly process (from zero to a moveable

motorcycle.

“After visiting the sewage water

processing facilities, environmental friendly paint company and the

motorcycle manufacturing plant, I learnt

a lot in different kinds of manufacturing processes, and the related environmental

protection methodologies in China. This is a very valuable experience to me.”


of Science in Applied Business Statistics commented:

“This trip is an invaluable chance to look

the production lines of different industrial firms in detail. It is also a good

opportunity to learn the corporate

management style in China. Besides, visit the live of local citizens at night also

impressed me a lot in knowing the local culture too.”

Student from the programme of Associate of Science in Airport Operations and

Aviation Logistics commented:

“This is the first time I join the study tour of CCCU and DCO. The visiting spots

were very interesting. I made new friends in the tour. Besides, with the sponsorship

from CCCU and DCO, the tour fee was much lowered then what I expected. I

will definitely join other study tours organized by DCO and CCCU in future.”


of Science in Information Systems Development commented:

“The visit to the motorcycle

manufacturing plant impressed me a lot.

I had a ride on my dream motorcycles in the show room. Also, the painting

experience in Fortress Paint can be never found in other visit or study tour. The

interaction among students and the staffs in WuYi touched me.”


of Engineering commented:

“I have never heard about a place called WuYi before the study tour. And I

expected the condition in WuYi should not be too good. However, I found that I was

wrong in this tour. The manufacturing plants in WuYi were using the state-of-

the-art technologies. Moreover, most of the manufacturers were responsible to

protect the environment around.”

“This is the first time I went to WuYi

area. I found that the development in Pearl River Delta was very fast. Many

international famous brands have established manufacturing plants in

there. This tour inspired me about the future development in China. I will

definitely join any similar activities in future.”

to those students who had not joined the tour.
