This Advent, let us bring joy to others’ hearts by going to visit them and spending time with them.

We are grateful for the warmth you give, knowing you are with us all the time. Let us pray for those who have suffered through loss and have nobody to share the season with, or have no home and are cold.

Mr Bragard’s Weekly Update

Well…. We have made it to the end of the Autumn Term (only 15 weeks in total). It has been a fun packed term full of excitement. As well as the amazing Christmas activities over the past week, including the beautiful KS2 Nativity, there has been a whole host of events and amazing learning happening. One proud moment this term was when the children in the kurling competition managed to get to the Essex finals with their amazing performance. We have also been on many trips, in school events and outings across the term including Year 6 Residential, Year 6 Victorian Day, Year 1 Sea life Adventure Trip, Year 3 Superhero Day and Year 5 Shakespeare performance. All of these events and days have showcased the children’s talents and enthusiasm for learning. Finally I would like to say from myself and all the members of the senior team a very Happy Christmas and we hope you enjoy this special time of year with your families and friends. We look forward to seeing you all in the new year for another action packed term full of fun and enjoyment. Happy Christmas one and all!

Storytelling EYFS

This week the Early Years children had a wonderful storytelling experience. They were taken on a Christmas adventure. Thank you to Mrs Carroll for this wonderful experience.

KS2 NativityWell done to all the children involved in the KS2 Nativity. It was an impressive performance with singing, puppets and dancing while still sharing the importance of the Christmas story but also its relevance in our lives today. Thank you to all the staff involved in helping get this amazing performance ready.

Panto

The children in KS1 and KS2 attended the Christmas Panto in the hall. The children thoroughly enjoyed the show and got to enjoy ice cream and other treats with their friends!

Christmas Dinner Day

This week the children had their Christmas dinner day. The children had made hats and celebrated with their friends while listening to Christmas festive music. 1

Autumn Term Attendance Pizza Party

Well done to Our Lady of Lourdes class for having the best attendance across Autumn term. This week they got to have their attendance pizza party at lunch. The pizzas were kindly delivered, donated and sponsored by Fat Pizza.

Candlelight Christmas Story Service

This morning we had our end of term candlelight service. All the children came to listen to the Christmas story and sing and worship together. It was a magical moment and a final reminder about what Christmas is really all about!

Thank you

A special thank you to all the families that have given members of staff cards and gifts. Every year we feel blessed to receive gifts from our families and children but it is never a necessity. It is just a pleasure to teach your children everyday and seeing them grow and develop particularly as we prepare for Christmas.

All the staff would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and we look forward to seeing you all again in January.

Following the recent incident in the Annunciation Church, Croydon, where a young boy was badly burnt by a candle, could we please ask that you make children / parents aware of candle safety this Christmas. Parent Information Meeting

We will be holding Parent Information Meetings in January. These meetings will give you the opportunity to meet with your child’s class teacher to discuss how your child is progressing across the academic year and how to best support this progress at home. Pupils in Years 1 - 6 will have received a Pupil Information Record today. Our meetings will give you the opportunity to discuss the report further with your child’s class teacher. Full details about the meetings, and how to book your appointment, will be sent out after the Christmas holidays.

The meetings are scheduled for Wednesday 15th January (Year 6 only), Tuesday 21st and Thursday 23rd January 2020. Appointments will be available during the following times:








Notices

From the School OfficeWater BottlesPlease can we remind all our families that children are only allowed water in their bottles that are in class. Some children are bringing in juices or squashes in their bottles, which is not permitted. Please support us with being a healthy school, many thanks. ClubsNext term’s clubs are online for you to look and pay for the Spring Term.

Health and Hygiene Reminder Just a reminder of the Government guidelines for sickness and diarrhoea. Children cannot return to school until 48 hours after the last incident of either.

Earrings and JewelleryWe are now approaching the end of the first term, but still many children are coming in with earrings or jewellery. We do not permit any jewellery in school for health and safety reasons, as detailed in the school prospectus. We therefore ask parents to support us with and not send their children in with any jewellery, especially earrings, many thanks.

LatesMany children are arriving late on a daily basis. This disturbs the daily running of the school. It causes the child, teacher and class much disruption as they enter late, and the teacher has to settle the child and explain the work once again. Please remember to arrive promptly for school, the gates open at 8.30am, shutting at 8.50am. Children arriving after this time are late, and late forms will need to be completed in the office, explaining the delay. We thank you for your support in getting your child to school on time.

Friends of Sacred Heart is a charitable organisation that holds a range of events to raise money for our wonderful school. Events include quiz nights, curry nights, beetle bingo, summer and Christmas fairs. The money raised goes towards our children's learning and to improve their school environment. In previous years we have helped pay for play time and lunchtime equipment and subsidise trips for the children.
