It is the last week of the school term. The headmistress of Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Perling is talking to the students about their coming holidays. This is what she tells them.

“Good morning, children. Your holidays will begin next week and you will be away from school for eight weeks. This is a long stretch of time. Do use the holidays wisely.

I want t share some advice with you. Do not spend all your time playing or watching every cartoon on television. It is also unwise to loiter in shopping complexes with your friends. There are many better and healthier things that you can do.

You can become a member of the library nearest to your house. The National Library always welcomes new members, especially students. Remember, reading increases knowledge.

Therefore are many other activities that you can participate in. The ‘Rakan Muda’ programmes offer a wide range of activitie4s to suit every interest, from sp0orts events to outdoor adventuring. You will definitely make a lot of new friends and gain some experience at the same time. You can also try hydroponics which is growing vegetables in water. You will surely find it interesting! It is never too late to start a collection of your favourite items such as stamps or badges.

If you do stay home a lot, remember to practice home safety rules. These include not playing with matches or dangerous tools. Then, when you are out on the road, remember your road safety ‘left-right-left’ rule before you cross any road.

Finally, take good care of yourselves. Have a very happy holiday!”
