    Narrated Abu Huraira:The Prophet said, "(On the Day ofResurrection) camels will come to theirowner in the best state of health theyhave ever had (in the world), and if hehad not paid their Zakat (in the world)

    then they would tread him with their,their owner in the best state of healththey have ever had in the world, and ifhe had not paid their Zakat, then theywould tread him with their hooves andwould butt him with their horns.

    Narrated Abu Huraira:

    Allah's Apostle said, "Whoever is made

    wealthy by Allah and does not pay the

    Zakat of his wealth, then on the Day of

    Resurrection his wealth will be madee a a - ea e po sonous ma e sna e

    with two black spots over the eyes. The

    snake will encircle his neck and bite his

    cheeks and say, 'I am your wealth, I amyour treasure.

    Narrated Hakim bin Hizam

    The Prophet said, "The upper hand is betterthan the lower hand (i.e. he who gives in

    charity is better than him who takes it). One

    should start giving first to his dependents. And

    the best object of charity is that which is given

    left after his expenses). And whoever abstains

    from asking others for some financial help,

    LITERAL AND TECHNICAL

    MEANINGS OF ZAKAH Literally word zakat means to purify or to

    increase

    Zakah is neither charity nor a tax. Charity is.

    compulsory and has to be spent under fixed

    headings.

    2. Helping the needy.

    INWARD AND OUTWARD RULES AND

    OBLIGATIONS OF ZAKAH. Outward Rules of zakah:

    1. Intention, which means that the personshould purpose in his heart the payment

    of the zakah, but he does not have to

    the zakah.

    2. Promptness in paying zakah at the endof each year. If somebody had been ableto pay the zakah but delayed to do soand subsequently his property wasdestroyed , the obligation to pay it willnot be removed from him.

    3. that the zakah should not be transferred

    from one town to another. Let the zakah bespent in the town wherein it was collected.When this is observed it will no longer bewrong to transfer zakah to other areas.

    Narrated Ibn Abbas:

    ' . . .to Yemen, he said (to him), inform themthat Allah has enjoined on them, the Zakat.And it is to be taken from the rich amongst

    them and given to the poor amongst them;"
