The famous islands of the Zanzibar archipelago are located about 25 miles off Dar es Salaam on the mainland coast of Tanzania. They have always been known to be the perfect place to unwind after a safari or trek up Kilimanjaro.

The water is warm, beaches are beautiful, excursions are numerous and historic Stone Town, the archipelago’s capital, is a hub of activity - old stone crumbling buildings with elaborate doors and balconies, and narrow streets teeming with bazaars

and bicycles, a wonderful marketplace, old sultans palaces and the site of the infamous slave trade.

Zanzibar has a whole range of accommodations to suit different interests and budgets. Generally, the hotels in Stone Town are ideal for exploring the historic city, taking Spice plantation tours and visiting little isles around the main island.

The East Coast is very popular, with superb white sandy beaches and coral reefs teeming with underwater life. The North Coast is generally considered to be the best for those seeking more adventurous underwater safaris -scuba diving and deep sea diving.

Most resorts offer five star facilities like conference centres and meeting halls, which are specially allocated for MICE events. The company was founded by Javed and Kulsum Jafferji in 2006 alongside a team of experts in tourism industry. In a very short time, Gallery Tours has established a reputable position in Tanzania and the worldwide market, developing its business to cater to specific clients and is now celebrating ten years of operations. SAND BANK PICNIC

This full day excursion includes something for everyone!

Start your day by touring the historical Prison Island where the prison was once used for quarantine, befriend an Aldabra Tortoise and enjoy the panoramic view of Stone town from the other side!

After that it’s time to relax on the white sands of the Pange Sandbank and soak up Zanzibar’s sun. Admire the breathtaking view of the turquoise waters around you while birds loom up above.

Want to cool down for a bit? Grab your snorkel and

flippers and go for a swim where the underwater world will blow your senses away. Marvel at the tropical fish that swim amongst the beautiful, live coral reef around the Sandbank and make this true dream excursion!

After you’ve worked up an appetite, sit down and relax under your own private tent where a seafood feast awaits you. We have live barbeque set up for you along with the option for an upgraded seafood menu such as lobster etc.

Setting sail on a traditional dhow when visiting Zanzibar could be one of the highlights of your trip! The Safari Blue trip starts from Fumba the perfect starting point to explore Menai Bay, an official Conser¬vation Area. Home to beautiful uninhabited islands, this area is stunning and frequented by humpback and bottlenose dolphins. On arrival at Fumba, clients are given a briefing on the Safari Blue adventure where dolphins are sighted on approximately 90% of trips. The anchor is dropped at Kwale sandbank where sunshades are set up and guests have the chance to go snorkelling in the coral reefs assisted by the guides. After snorkelling,

guests are offered refreshments to whet their appetite before heading back to Kwale Island for lunch under the tamarind trees. Drinks are served throughout the day and lunch is a buffet of grilled fish, lobster, calamari, chicken and rice with a sampling of tropical fruits in season. After lunch, you can sun bathe, snooze or visit the beautiful mangrove lagoon where depending on the tide you can laze by taking a swim in the warm waters of the lagoon. For the more adventurous guests there is an opportunity to sail in an “ngalawa” - a local outrigger canoe. After this it’s back to Fumba around 5:30pm.

STONE TOWN DISCOVERY TOUR

Follow the trail of the sultans, slaves and explorers in the winding streets of Stone Town.

Your guide will regale you with the events that shaped Zanzibar whilst leading you through the buildings where it all happened, such as the former Slave Market and Anglican Cathedral, the House of Wonders and the Sultans’ Palace Museum, the Old Arab Fort and Dispensary.

While tracing the steps of stories past, the walking tour provides you with a window into modern life in Stone Town. Explore the markets, seafood and fish piled in the fish market, fresh loaves of bread in wicker baskets and neat stacks of fruit and vegetables as traders sell their wares from their stalls.

Children play in the streets near their homes; ‘mamas’ sit outside and gossip while the men play board games.

The City Tour is very flexible and can be adapted to suit your interests and time frame. It doesn’t matter if you’re a shopaholic, culture vulture or history buff we have something to suit everyone. If you want to hunt for antiques and souvenir shop follow David Livingstone’s time in Zanzibar and walk the path of the slave trade. Your guide will be able to recommend and customize routes and itineraries optimising your time to get the most out of your trip.

SULTAN PANORAMA

Zanzibar became renowned as a spice island, when it started exporting cloves, vanilla, nutmeg and cardamom across the world. The spices, which had been brought over from Asia and South America, flourished in the tropical climes. Nowadays, the plantations are a tribute to the island’s past, swapping spices for tourism, by combining both in a spice tour, one of the most popular excursions on the island.

Walk through the spice farm with your guide and experience feeling, smelling and tasting different spices and tropical fruit. Try to guess one from the other from crushed leaves, the fruit, shoots, vines and creepers crawling up the trees. Learn about their properties, their origins and their use in medicine, food and drink.

Depending on the season, you can find anything from vanilla, cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg,

turmeric, lemon grass, cloves, ylang ylang, cumin, coriander, pepper, tamarind, chili and more! Fruits include banana, pineapple, jackfruit, custard fruit, oranges, star fruit, tangerine, passion fruit, mango, avocado, pear, papaya, grape fruit and many others.

Lunch is served on the plantation with local cuisine and the menu gives you a true experience of the spice tour. An authentic Swahili cookery lesson will follow either before or after lunch depending on time. These cooking lessons are designed for those who want to try their hand at creating delicious Swahili meals.

The next stop will be at a local village for a slice of Zanzibari culture and life. Cooking, weaving, building houses and playing with the children, you’ll have chance to see what life is like for Zanzibaris.

Princess Salme, the Princess who eloped with a German merchant was born right next-door at the Mtoni Palace. Enjoy the unique melodies of traditional Zanzibar music while watching the sun setting over the Indian Ocean, with freshly prepared delicacies and the enchanted atmosphere of 1001 nights.

The evening starts with a guided tour around the Palace at 6:00 pm, which will be followed by a concert of traditional Taraab melodies and dances. Candles and incense re-create the magical atmosphere of 1001 Nights. During the interlude a grilled Zanzibari buffet will delight the appetite!

On the menu you experiment with a variety of grilled kebabs (tuna & coriander, beef fillet marinated in ginger), beef and vegetarian samosas with coconut lime chutney, lentil badhias with green mango & chili sauce, fresh sesame coconut bread and more…
