  What can influence climate?

We find different climates all over the world because there are some factors that can influence climate. These factors are:

- Latitude: It's the distance of a place of the Earth's equator.

- Altitude: It's the height of an area in relation to sea level.

- Relief: It's the physical shape of a part of the Earth's surface.

- Distance from sea level.

Flora and fauna

Climate is very important because it can influence the:

-  Flora : The plants of a region.- Fauna: The animals of a region.

Wild weather

In nature we can find some natural disasters produced by wild weather.

- DROUGHT: happens when there's a little or no precipitation for a long time. A drought can cause problems:

* Soil and groundwater dry up.* Fertile land becomes infertile.* Plants and animals can die.

- FLOOD: happens when there is precipitation over a long period of time or a heavy precipitation over a short period of time. Water stays on the surface of the Earth. Floods can destroy crops, livestock and it can leave people without home.

- THUNDERSTORMS: occur when warm air raises and cools quickly. The water vapour forms dark clouds. In a thunderstorm, it rains a lot and we can see lightning and hear thunders.

- HURRICANES: are formed in warm wet air above warm seas. Hurricanes bring very strong winds and heavy rains. They are very dangerous.

- TORNADOES: They occur when wind blows violently and forms a spinning column.

Global warming and the greenhouse effect

The global warming means that the temperature in our planet is increasing very quickly. This happens due to the greenhouse effect.  The heat the Earth needs comes from the Sun. Some gases in the atmosphere trap some of this heat to help the Earth to be warm.

Nowadays, humans release a lot of greenhouse gases, like carbon dioxide, by burning gas, coal, oil, using cars, or working in factories, to the atmosphere.

Because there is a huge amount of these gases in the atmosphere, just some heat escapes while the rest of the heat stays on Earth, increasing the temperature of our planet.
