paçünäà patià päpanäçaà pareçaà gajendrasya kåttià vasänaà vareëyam,
jaöäjüöamadhye sphuradgäìgavärià mahädevamekaà smarämi smarärim. (1)
1. I reverentially remember Mahädeva – The one supreme Lord of Lords, the Lord of all beings, the
destroyer of sins, the most sought after one wearing an elephant’s hide, from whose thick locks of matted hair
flows the Ganga and the one who has subdued all desires.

2. I ardently adore the great Lord, the Lord of gods, the destroyer of the foes of gods, the all-pervading Lord of
the universe, whose body is adorned with holy ash, one who has the moon, the sun and fire for His three
eyes, the five-faced blissful one.

3. I respectfully worship the Lord of the mountains, the great Leader, whose neck is blue in colour, one who is
mounted on a lordly bull and is beyond the three guëas (sattva, rajas and tamas), the source of all, the lustrous
one whose limbs are smeared with the holy ash, the five-faced one, who has Bhaväné (Mother Pärvaté)
as His consort.

4. Be pleased, O Lord of Pärvaté, O bestower of auspiciousness, the great Lord with the crescent moon
on His head, the one with a trident and a crown of matted locks. You alone are omnipresent and of the
form of the universe. O infinite Lord, be pleased!

parätmänamekaà jagadbéjamädyaà niréhaà niräkäramoìkäravedyam, yato jäyate pälyate yena viçvaà
taméçaà bhaje léyate yatra viçvam. (5)
5. With devotion, I worship the one supreme Self, the ultimate cause of creation, the desireless and formless
one, who can be known through contemplation on Omkära, the Lord from whom the universe is created, by whom it is protected and into whom it dissolves.

na bhümirna cäpo na vahnirna väyur- na cäkäçamäste na tandrä na nidrä, na coñëaà na çétaà na deço na veño

6. I deeply adore the formless one functioning as the three (creator, sustainer, destroyer), though He is
beyond the earth, water, fire, air and space; beyond inertia, sleep, heat and cold, not limited to any place
or guise.

7. I surrender to the unborn, eternal, indivisible Çiva (auspiciousness), who is the Cause of all causes and the
Light of all luminaries; the supreme and sacred one, who is beyond the three states of experiences (waking, dream and deep sleep), beyond ignorance, devoid of
beginning and an end, and in whom there is no duality.

8. Reverential salutations to You, O Lord who is appearing as the universe of plurality. Humble
obeisance to You, the embodiment of Consciousness-Bliss. Respectful prostrations to You, who is known
through austerity and meditation. Repeated salutations to You, who is attained through the knowledge
of Veda (scriptures).

9. O Lord wielding a trident in the hand, O all-pervading Lord of the universe, O Lord of the gods, O Embodiment
of auspiciousness, O supreme Lord with three eyes, O Consort of Pärvaté, O peaceful one, O destroyer of all desires and the three demons, there is none other than You who is (to be) sought, honoured or considered as
my support.

10. O Embodiment of auspiciousness, O great Lord, O compassionate one wielding a trident in hand,
O Lord of Gauré (Pärvaté), O Lord of all beings, who destroys the bondage of all, O Lord of Käçé (the sacred city of Benaras), You are the one supreme Lord who, out of abundant compassion, destroys, protects and
supports this universe.

11. O self-effulgent Lord, the source of all, the vanquisher of desire, the universe springs forth from You.
O gracious Lord of the world, the universe remains (protected) in You alone. O Lord, the snatcher of sorrows,
who is manifest in the form of the moving and non-moving world, this universe dissolves into You alone,
who are in the form of a Liìga.
