Mission: Dignity
Sunday, June 22, 2014
Join us in celebrating Mission: Dignity Sunday in your
church! The fourth Sunday of June is the day set aside by
the SBD to remember the thousands of aged ministers or
their widows who dedicated their lives to the gospel
ministry, but are now facing their retirement years
without the financial resources to meet their basic needs.

From our BOARD.....
At our spring
meeting, guest speaker
Lester Evans presented a
wonderful case for the need
and role of an association
like Beulah. With simplicity
he very clearly reminded all
of us of the task we share as
individual believers and
churches. In essence, I believe he spoke directly to our
greatest concerns for our own association’s future. Allow
me to briefly explain.
As we shared at the Town Hall meeting several
weeks ago, after reading through the returned surveys, the
most prevailing concerns within our association really can
be boiled down to two primary issues: unity and
stewardship. Certainly these two do not speak to every
single concern that exists, but I would like to share how
Lester’s presentation speaks to perhaps the two most
commonly held ones.
The issue of unity is one I have already heard
repeatedly in my short time serving on the Executive Board.
Unity should always be a primary concern. After all, unity
exists as one of the most prevalent themes all throughout
the New Testament. So, how do we pursue unity? How
does Lester’s call help us answer that question? The answer
has to do with how clearly we define our point of unity.
The truth is there can be 20 people all calling for
unity, yet never arrive at it because they all have a different
point of unity in mind. This can sometimes be a problem in
the church. If all of our eyes are not focused on the same
point, we simply will not all be running in the same
direction. We all have different passions, preferences,
styles, and points of emphasis. So, what is that one point of
reference we all share and can all pursue together? Lester
reminded us that this point of reference is the Great
Commission (the task of making disciples of all peoples).
We may all participate in pursuing that Commission
differently, with each church or individual passionate about
certain aspects of the mission; but, at the end of the day,
we are all running in the same direction and pursuing the
same goal. We are all passionate to see the day when we
gather around our King’s throne with representatives of
every nation, tribe and tongue, bowing together and
worshiping our Savior. The only way we will truly reach
unity is for every church and individual to see that
Commission as the only true point of unity we share.
The goal becomes: Rallying around this commission
while at the same time edifying each other in the unique
way God has called each church to pursue it.
The second issue has to do with stewardship.
Understanding that the Beulah Baptist Association includes
many churches with varying degrees of participation and
financial contribution, how does the association make sure
that all resources are being stewarded in such a way that
churches can be confident in their associational
investment? Only if we make sure that those resources are
focused, as well, on our point of unity, or the Great
Commission. So, how do we do that? As part of a larger
paradigm (Lona emailed a copy of this just after the Town
Hall), we proposed adding the following to our mission
statement: “Uniting Churches for Kingdom Growth Through
Encouragement, Mobilization and Training” (proposed
addition in italics). With the addition of E. M. T., churches
can be confident that their investment will focus on those 3
things, all serving to edify and equip all of our churches for
the mission God has given us to pursue together.
The goal becomes: Making sure that all of our
resources focus on completing these 3 specific tasks with
excellence, maximizing our ability to pursue this mission
together. (Jason Engle, Executive Board)

THANK YOU... Many times we don’t
take the time to give God the praise he
deserves for blessing us each day, we
forget that He tells us that he will never
leave or forsake us. There are also times,
we forget to give Him the credit for the
miracles He performs, often giving the credit to the doctors
and medical teams that work with our love ones. For me
and mine, I want to give Him the THANKS for healing our
son of cancer. I also want to THANK all of you for praying for
Alan Bryce. The Lord answers prayer. He is still in the
Miracle business. He is in control and we should never
forget that. Alan Bryce’s doctors have said he is cancer free.
Praise the Lord! Alan and Olivia Bottoms

North Carolina Baptist "Best Kept Secret"
The services of the North Carolina Baptist
Foundation (NCBF) have often been called the best kept
secret in NC Baptist life. The NCBF offers many services in
partnership with associations and churches to further their
ministry. Some of these services are familiar, but several are
not. A few of the less familiar services of the NCBF are our
newer ones. That includes church loans and church loan
investments offered by North Carolina Baptist Financial
Services (NCBFS, a ministry of NCBF). Loans are offered to
qualifying churches and entities for the acquisition,
construction and renovation of worship facilities,
parsonages, schools and other similar structures. Rates and
terms are competitive with other lenders and NCBFS is
familiar with the needs of churches. Church loan
investments are available to churches and their members at
rates above the market. These investments are loaned to
churches to help fund their growth needs and are available
in the form of demand and timed certificates.
Another lesser known service of the NCBF is the
student scholarship and loan funds for students seeking an
education in any institution of higher learning. These
include seminaries, Baptist and non-Baptist colleges and
universities, and technical schools.
Some of the more familiar services of NCBF are in
the area of estate planning for individuals when there is a
charitable intent for Baptist ministries. Some of the more
familiar services of NCBF for churches are in the area of
church fund and endowment management. Did you know
that the staff of NCBF is available to come to your church or
association for speaking engagements such as sermons,
senior and young adult programs, Christian estate-planning
seminars, consultation with committees, and gift-planning
events.
The services of NCBF are too good to be kept a
secret. We want to partner with you to educate your
members to be better stewards of all that God has
entrusted in each of us. If we can assist you, please call
Robert Simons, Central Area Manager for NCBF at 800-521-
7334 extension 1692.

Meridzo Center Ministries – Easter Boxes
Tommy Faust, former pastor at
High View Church asked that we share an
opportunity to minister at Meridzo Center
Ministries out of Lynch, Kentucky. They
have started a “Hope Box" Ministry to the
area. Boxes are put together in the same line as the
Christmas Boxes by Samaritans Purse, but instead of doing
these at Christmas we do this during Easter. This is the
important part....the school systems allow us to come into
the schools, deliver the boxes and share the gospel in the
schools. We have shared the gospel in school gyms, libraries
lunch rooms and classrooms. Year number one we carried
700 boxes and were in three schools. Year two we were in
five schools with 1700 boxes, and this year we just returned
after delivering 2700 boxes into eight schools. We now are
being asked to do this in other schools and when we add
them up it will take 11,800 boxes next year.
If you would like to know more about this ministry,
contact Tommy Faust, cell number is 919-475-8337 call or
