Things I Learned inHong Kong
姬嘉麗 I learned my Cantonese name!
Surname: Gaither - Gei
First name: Carissa - Ka-Lai
姬嘉麗 (Gei Ka-Lai)
Hong Kong is gorgeous and tropical!Over 70° and sunny!
The metro system is SO clean and easy to use!
Just to make you drool a little bit, here’s what their “average” mall looks like…
I’ll talk about the food courts a little later. One word to describe them:
AMAZING
Street Shopping!
-Ladies Market
-Temple Street Market
-Central
FOOD!!!-Fast Food – Even their fast food comes in huge portions and is made fresh. SO good.
-Street Food – Smaller portions but costs the equivalent of a nickel in US dollars! (I tried seasoned tofu and horse!)
-Tea Time-
Hong Kong LOVES milktea! Tea time comes with a noodle appetizer, a meat, and something sweet (I had French toast with peanut butter and honey. YUM)
The culture is really influenced by traditional Confucian values even though
it’s more westernized than Mainland China
Wishing for good luck and health for the whole family!
There are two extremes: Parts that are huge, extravagant, and
affluent
And parts that show severe poverty
Often they even exist on the same street
Then I spent a day in Mainland China
Everything there is bigger, greyer, and more spread apart
This is where I stayed!
I met some amazing artists!
Central is so much fun! Lots of karaoke!
And when we weren’t having fun there was work….
Work
Work…
And more work
(we’re working so one day we can get cars
like this)
Between the mountains and the city, Hong Kong has one of the most beautiful sky
lines
