How to write a job application
General points
Keep it brief. You don’t need to give a lot of detail. What you are aiming for is a clear and concise explanation of your suitability for the job.
Begin your letter or email ‘Dear Mr/Mrs/Ms xxxx’ if you know the person’s name, or ‘Dear Sir or Madam’ if you don’t know their name.
Avoid inappropriate language such as slang or technical jargon. Use brief, informative sentences and short paragraphs. Check your spelling, grammar, and punctuation carefully. Some
employers routinely discard job applications that contain such mistakes.
Three main parts
The body of this job application letter is divided into three sections:
First Paragraph: Explain why you are writing - mention the job you are applying for and where you found the listing (news media, friend..)
Middle Paragraph: State what you have to offer the employer - mention why your personal skills and experiences are a good fit for the job. For each skill or quality you mention, provide a specific example.
Last Paragraph: Say thank you to the hiring manager for considering you and note how you will follow up. Provide follow-up details
