merupakan Yayasan di Jepang yang didirikan oleh
Kurita Water Industries Ltd pada tahun 1997.
Tujuan dari KWEF: The foundation's goal is to
contribute to the development of society in the 21st
century and help restore a clean environment.
Kurita Asia Grant Research (KARG)
Kurita Water and Environment Foundation (KWEF)
supports scientists of Asian nationality who are
conducting research in their own countries. The focal
research area is water-related Environmental Science and
Technology.
For Asia, they called Kurita Asia Grant Research (KARG)

Research Subjects Supported
Research subjects related to water environment in the
applicant's country can be applied. Examples of
appropriate research subjects are; water/wastewater
treatment, water quality analysis, sustainability of water
environment sanitation, water ecosystem, agricultural
water use, industrial wastewater treatment.
Notes :
*KWEF is intended to support academic research.
*Research programs aimed primarily at generating
business profit will not be adopted.

Research Period for 2020
From October 1st, 2020 to September 30th, 2021
Amount of grant
Maximum amount is 400,000 yen per an adopted research.
*KWEF does not provide the grant money directly to the grantee. KWEF will transfer the grant money
in US dollars to a bank account of the institution which the grantee belongs. The institution must
provide the bank account information that KWEF can transfer the grant money in US dollars from
Japan, manage the grant money and submit the expense report to KWEF.
*The grant money should be used for the direct expenses of the research program, such as the
purchase of equipment and reagent, outsourcing analysis costs, travel costs associated with fieldwork.
If necessary, an appropriate charge for the institute overhead expenses can be taken from the grant
money.

Criteria for Applicants who can apply
Kurita Water and Environment Foundation (KWEF)
supports scientists of Asian nationality who are
conducting research in their own countries with following
criteria.
1) The applicant must reside in Indonesia.
2) The applicant must conduct research at university,
college, or associated institute in Indonesia (except
private sectors) and should be master’s degree candidate
or higher.
3) The applicant should be under 40 years of age or fresh
graduate not more than 3 years after the graduation of
PhD program or master program.

Selection Criteria for Research Grant
1) Relevance to water and environment field
2) Novelty of research
3) Importance and applicability of research to the country
4) Age and gender of applicants, i.e. priority given to young researchers and gender balance between awarded proposals
5) Distribution of research grant to different academic institutions/region in the country, i.e. the awarded proposals given to researchers from different academic institutions is preferred.
