� 1997 - 1st in the world – Finland, Helsinky, mobile-phone enabled Coca Cola vending machines. The machines

accepted payment via SMS.

� 1997 - 1st mobile phone-based banking service was launched in 1997 by Merita Bank of Finland (also using SMS).

� 1999 - Two major national commercial platforms for mobile commerce were launched. Smart Money

(Philippines) & NTT DoCoMo’s i-ModeInternet service (Japan).

� 2000 - Mobile-commerce-related services spread rapidly. Norway - mobile parking payments. Austria - train

ticketing via mobile device. Japan - mobile purchases of airline tickets.

� 2006 – 1st NFC Phone - Nokia 6131

� 2011 – Launch of the the Google Wallet Mobile App in September 2011
