Balita adalah anak yang telah menginjak usia di atassatu tahun atau dalam artian khusus anak yang berusiadi bawah lima tahun.
Pertumbuhan ditunjukkan pada perubahan bentukkarena pertambahan sel dan intersel yang peneliannyayaitu dengan mengukur keadaan fisik. Perkembanganyaitu yang berhubungan dengan struktur dan fungsi,baik yang berhubungan secara langsung.
Zat gizi adalah bahan selain obat yang mengandungzat – zat gizi dan atau unsur/ikatan kimia yang dapatdiubah menjadi zat gizi oleh tubuh , yang berguna biladimasukkan ke dalam tubuh
