Term 3 - Week 10
PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Another busy term is drawing to an end. What a perfect opportunity to say thank you to all of our students for their hard work and effort over the past ten weeks. The same goes for our dedicated and enthusiastic staff who continue to encourage and challenge our students to become the best possible versions of themselves. We say farewell and good luck this week to Mrs Sarah Rinaldo as she leaves us on maternity leave in preparation for the arrival of Baby Rinaldo in October. We hope you enjoy this special time and come back to visit us soon with your new bundle when he/she arrives. Miss Hayley Gordon will be teaching K/1 for the rest of the year and we welcome her to the Yoogali PS staff with open arms. The SRC Disco was a hit last Thursday night with many inspiring heroes and wicked villains. Thank you to Mrs Rinaldo and the SRC for their organisation, Yoogali PS staff for supervising the disco and to Jaikomo Thief for allowing us to use their lighting to really set the disco mood. A great time was had by all!

PARENTS OF STUDENTS IN YEAR 3 AND YEAR 5 – DELAYED RELEASE OF 2013 NAPLAN RESULTS
“On Thursday 5 September the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) identified an error in the placement of the national average markers on the Years 5 and 7 NAPLAN Student Reports for Language Conventions. Importantly the NAPLAN student data is correct.
ACARA made the immediate decision to halt any further packaging and distribution of NAPLAN reports while options regarding the distribution of correct NAPLAN Student Reports were considered.
ACARA is working closely with Test Administration Authorities (TAAs) in every state and territory to ensure correct reports are distributed.
This matter may result in the delay of the distribution of student reports, possibly to the week of 13 October, however ACARA and TAAs will seek to minimise the delay.”
K/1 CLASS NEWS The end of Term 3 is here and what a busy term it has been. K/1 have worked very hard this term and should be proud of the effort they have all put into their learning. I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching K/1 this term and wish all students and parents the best for the rest of the year. It has been wonderful
to see the growth in all students since the start of the year. I would also like to thank all parents for their help throughout the year your help has been greatly appreciated. Sarah 2/3/4 CLASS NEWS
Thank you for a terrific term 2/3/4. This term we have achieved so much. In Literacy we are all making improvements
and have thoroughly enjoyed implementing
many of the Focus on Reading skills and
strategies I (Mrs Damini) has brought back to
school from professional development.
The students have enjoyed incorporating
Mathletics into our Maths lessons and they are
becoming super speedy and super competitive
when participating in online Maths races.
In Personal Development and Health we have
learnt about legal and illegal drugs, what to do
in case of an emergency and who we should
contact. Your research projects and speeches
were impressive!
During Physical Education classes we have
become little gymnasts and know how to do
safe forward and backward rolls. Look out
2016 Olympic Games!!!
I look forward to Term 4 and developing our
learning further in a whole range of contexts.
Jaimee Damini :-)

4/5/6 CLASS NEWS What a term we have had!!!! The students in our class have really started to mature and take responsibility for their own learning this term. There are some things that we need to focus on improving for next term in order to have a better functioning classroom. Many students are forgetting to bring their own supplies for learning each day. Students must bring their own blue pens, red pens, HB lead pencils coloured pencils, rulers and glue sticks. Textas are optional however students do enjoy using these on a daily basis. Also please ensure that your child brings their homework book back to school to be marked each Friday. Homework is a departmental policy and MUST be completed. Thanks. Many children have really enjoyed the challenge of the reading project that Mrs Damini implemented this term. It was a pleasure seeing many students making a real effort to read more than usual. Well done to those people! Last of all….. have a fantastic 2 week break. Remember be safe and have fun! Enjoy the rest and be ready for a full on and busy term next term! Cindy and Nikki
ATTENDANCE MATTERS Each week in our newsletter we will be focusing on an issue related to attendance. This week we would like to focus on the importance of regular communication between home and school. If for any reason you are finding it difficult to get your child to come to school, please contact your child’s class teacher as soon as possible. By working together we can ensure that your child gets the very best education possible at Yoogali PS.
