You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any

likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the

earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth."Exodus

    20 4-5 (ESV)

Idolatry is just one of the 10 Commandments we break repeatedly,

often not even realizing that we are breaking a Commandment.

We break it by exalting ourselves or thinking more of ourselves than

we think of God. Or we care more about what others say about us

than what God says about us.

Today, in our country we care more about what politicians or sports

stars say than what God says. We spend more time reading the daily

newspaper, or watching TV, or playing sports and computer games,

than we spend reading the Bible.

We are all guilty of breaking not only this commandment, but all of

them, whether intentionally or unintentionally, whether by physical

action or by the attitude of our heart.

The only thing God can do with our Idolatry is to judge it and punish

it. The wages of sin is death.

Jesus took the punishment that we deserve. If we repent and turn to

Christ then we will no longer have to face God's wrath on the Day of

Judgment. Jesus dealt with our sins once and for all on the Cross where

    He died.

Jesus loved you so much, that He died for you. He took the punishment

that you deserve so that you could be with Him in Heaven forever.

We must agree with God that we have sinned and confess our many sins,

repent, which means determine to stop sinning of known sins.

Surrender to Jesus as Lord, which means He now commands our

decisions and our actions, and Saviour.

Jesus did not stay dead, but arose again from the dead, then ascended

    into Heaven.

One day, there will be a loud trumpet sound from Heaven and Jesus will

return. He will return in great power and glory. He will set up the

Judgment Day where we will all give account of the deeds done in the

flesh. If you belong to Jesus, you do not have to fear the same Judgment

and the punishment for what you have repented of and what Christ has

already paid for. But we will give an account of how we have served and

    obeyed Him.

"He has taken me to the banquet halland His banner over me is Love."
