Concealed in forest green leaves sits an orange, geometric tiger. Sim-ple shapes combined minimally in the mixed media painting created by Averi Senecal, student of kindergarden at the Early Childhood Center in Johnston.
Senecal's was the poster piece for an exhibit that featured over 285 works from 15 school districts and 4 charter schools from all over Rhode Island. The gallery had paintings, portraits, Picasso faces, splatter art, pop art, three dimen-sional book art, bizarre technicolor alien masks, photography and sculp-
tures –– all in the atrium of URI's Fein-stein Campus in downtown Providence.
Nine works, contributed by students from the Johnston school district, were added to a permanent collection of youth art at the college campus. Three from each tier: elementary, junior and senior high. The evening of reception and presentation was Thursday, May 15.
The Paff Auditorium's stage had nine easels on display, a platform for kids to get their work viewed by a general au-dience. The students received a certifi-cate for their achievements, a point of
