From the Pastor’s
Heart
A QUARTERLY PUBLICATION OF MOUNT VERNON BAPTIST CHURCH
Fall, 2015
In our culture, notoriety is given to the rich and famous. We enjoy talking about the influential or powerful people we know. From Jesus’ birth to His sacrificial death, He went about touching the needy. Last year, we had the joy of sharing prepackaged food with the needy near our church building. This year we will be sharing food gift cards starting from our church doors. Let’s be praying about people who serve in businesses near our location who are underpaid. They may come from other parts of our city and serve us, without ever being thanked or appreciated. Jesus targeted people who He knew would respond. Pray for God’s wisdom and be ready to bless others!
Pastor Shannon

Last year Mission Raleigh was enabled
to provide Thanksgiving and Christmas
assistance to over 100 families through
support and generosity of our Church
family. Our goal this year is to be able to
meet or exceed that performance.
We are praying our members will step
up to the challenge again this year to make
Thanksgiving and Christmas a Joyful
Experience for the needy families and
children in the communities we serve.
Your support will enable our Team to
provide food and Christmas items for our
Food Pantry patrons and the Oaks
Community children and families we
serve.
Our Donation containers are located in
both the Welcome Center and the office
Lobby area or you may place your dona-
tion in the offering plate. Checks may be
made to MVBC with “Mission Raleigh”
designated in the “For” space.
Please join us in the effort to make this
holiday season a time of joy for all the
folks Mission Raleigh serves.
Questions can be directed to
Dan Thurston, John Ricard or
Connie Batchelor.
