Academy Stars is a stimulating seven level course in British English designed to promote academic excellence, effective communication and essential life skills. It delivers an exceptionally varied grammar and skills syllabus, while developing fluency in real-world interactions and enhancing cognitive abilities.1

A set feature of the course is the introduction of new vocabulary in the context of a large picture that constitutes a perfect natural context for their meaning. From the earliest levels the course teaches pupils that grammar is not a set of rules outside any context but it has a meaning and its meaning is made clear in very short simple situational comics. The focus here is on meaning first and apart from language a broader perspective on learning is adopted in which pupils learn more than English itself but also acquire content knowledge and elements of culture3

Once pupils understand the meaning of the structure, it is decomposed into separate blocks that can be moved about to form other structures. Thanks to graphic grammar pupils learn that the blocks from which a sentence is built can be moved according to a number of rules to produce different meanings.This way the very abstract concept of grammar becomes more tangible and easier to comprehend by young learners4

The course offers ample types of interactional activities including role plays, interviews, problem solving tasks and discussions that allow them to activate the language in attractive speaking contexts5

Alongside preparing students for real life communication, Academy Stars includes a number of tasks that prepare students for international language exams like the Cambridge YLE or PET tests6

Academy Stars encourages young learners to develop early literacy skills in English by offering extensive reading experience7
