An umbrella term loosely used to describe the teaching of children in a manner that will help them develop variously as moral, civic, good, mannered, behaved, non-bullying, healthy, critical, successful, traditional, compliant or socially acceptable beings.

� � These characteristics are crucial for any student to

function as a responsible citizen in society.

� All of these characteristics are an expectation in any work or classroom environment.

� � In order to use technology in a classroom this pillar

of 21st Century Education becomes crucial.

� Students must understand each aspect and practice this pillar actively in order to have the privileges of using technology in the classroom on a regular basis

� Failure of using Character Education with technology will result in the loss of its use.

� � In class students will be asked to use their

technology devices to post on social media sites. � The first student will be told to post one compliment

on his or her social account i.e. Twitter or Facebook � Then the next student will wither “Retweet” or

“Like” the first student’s post and pass it along to their classmates.

� As this original post gets passed along students may notice that it might start to change a little at a time.

� � As the last student posts we will ask them to read

aloud the final post in comparison to the original. � Students will be able to see how easy and quick a

rumor can be started and spread from an innocent post on social media.

� Finally students must use critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and respect to try and fix the rumor that was started about one of their classmates.

� � Students will use items such as iPads, cellphones,

tablets, and computers to use social media and blogs in the classroom on a regular basis.

� Rules of Character Education will be posted on every Twitter account, Facebook account, blog, and computer lab that is used in the classroom as a constant reminder of the standards expected.

� If any student were to break any of these rules there will be an expectation of an apology that utilizes each content of Character Education actively.
