The importance of learning Business English?

In the 21st century we live in a truly global society, where communication with almost every part of the world is possible. The spread of English as the language of international business has made it more important than ever for people working with colleagues, clients and partners from other countries to understand each other, so that they can form effective and productive working relationships.

In order to meet the demands of modern employers, everyone from university graduates to senior managers must be able use English for work. Effective internal and external communication is essential to the success of any business, but professionals who need to communicate with each other as non-native English speakers can greatly benefit from learning Business English.

Page 3: CUNG CAP GIAO VIEN NUOC NGOAI - OUR SERVICES

What is the difference between Business English and General English?

The truth is, there are probably more similarities than differences. They both require the development of core skills in fluency, reading, writing and listening, the application of linguistic principles and, of course, plenty of hard work.  It is important to have a good basis of General English to be able to communicate effectively.  However, Business English courses focus on particular vocabulary, topics and skills that are applicable to the workplace and enable you to communicate accurately. Here are some examples:

Making phone/conference calls

Doing presentations

Taking part in meetings

Being involved in negotiations

Writing emails/reports

You will also be able to concentrate on topics that are relevant to your industry or company, which could include law, finance, medicine, IT, Marketing or Human Resources, while simultaneously enhancing your General English skills.

English has now become a global language for business all over the world to such an extent that it is the standard official language in certain industries such as the shipping and airline industries. It has resulted in the knowledge of English being a near-mandatory requirement for critical jobs such as airline pilots and naval officers, etc. Apart from having an impressive command of spoken English today’s competitive corporate culture demands an equally impressive command of written English as well. It is mainly because almost all forms of business communication such as emails, presentations, sales and marketing and even corporate legal documentation are now carried out in English.

Understanding these worries, the company Education Hawaii - specializes in supplying native teachers to teach English – designed the course to meet not only get what you desire, but also solve your problems: " Business English program". Supplying native teachers for Kindergarten

English has fast become the world’s most widely used and commonly spoken language today and the need to learn English for kids has increased exponentially with this growth. Most countries have now embraced the English language as a common denominator in communication across a plethora of fields, from trade & finance to travel. It is this widespread use that has defined it as one of the most influential languages in the world and as such many parents prefer their children learning English as a second language.

The first advantage is an elementary school age is a brilliant time to learn a second language. 2-5 of age is the right age to learn a second language beside the mother language because at that age children have a good brain condition to receive something new. According to brain imaging technological research conducted in California, Los Angeles, children aged 2-5 years old who are commonly known as in critical periods, states that areas of the brain that organize a language skill has the most rapid growth. Giving them a second language needs some stages along with their ability. In Kindergarten, we can tell them vocabulary that is near with their activity or environment with the pictures.

Understanding these difficulties, the company Hawaii Education supply quality native teachers to the kindergarten and the appropriate course in HCMC. English became the necessary tools for the children when Vietnam is increasingly integrated with the world. The equipment and knowledge required to take the language in pre-school age and true methods. With strong

Why teach in Vietnam ?

Deciding to take your internship experience abroad means you’ll save yourself a lot of time and money, because you will be combining your

Page 9: CUNG CAP GIAO VIEN NUOC NGOAI - OUR SERVICES

aspirations to see the world with your academic or professional need for real work experience

As a tourist you can only "visit" Vietnam through the information in books or travel websites, but when you come and live here, you will "enjoy" Vietnam with all your heart, this is what you can not find in books or website

Meet colleagues and make lifelong friends

The people who surround you, both here in the states and abroad, shape your life in one way or another. When you expose yourself to new cultures and new people, you tend to learn more about yourself than you do about them. You will encounter good people and people who aren’t so great, but it’s how you handle those situations and learn from them that really shows you who you are.

Once you find yourself among good people, keep surrounding yourself with them. Learn from them, become their friends, build and maintain friendships with them. They will become a big part of your "home away from home" and continue to impact your life long after you’ve parted ways.

Have an impact on a local community

An internship abroad often allows you to combine professional work experience with the opportunity to work for an organization that participates in community development or service. Helping the local community in which you live is a personally satisfying aspect of an internship abroad. It is also great to have volunteer work on your resume!

You can teach at the orphanage, where a lack of teachers, or classes for children in difficult circumstances. Contributing to the development of education in Vietnam, which is what any people of Vietnam always respects and gratitude.

Make a difference to your students’ lives

Page 10: CUNG CAP GIAO VIEN NUOC NGOAI - OUR SERVICES

When internship abroad, you will have a very different experience to other students. New life, new environment will help you get the new view, open mind and heart to feel everything around.

Cultural knowledge may be very different in the books or the Internet, the local customs you are experiencing. Everything that is well worth the trade-off to get them.

Experience local school life and culture

Intercultural communication is a vitally important part of the modern professional world, so employers will drool over the fact that you have already undertaken an internship abroad, and therefore have experience in a multicultural environment. By leaving the comforts of home to immerse yourself in an entirely new culture, you will be pushing the boundaries of what you are capable of. Some even say that the travel and life experience acquired through internships abroad is arguably even more important than the professional experience

Develop your teaching skills in a unique context

When changing teaching environment, there are situations you probably have never undergo, and this will give you the exciting experience for their careers.

Internationalise your resume

In the competitive state of today’s job market, having global work experience under your belt is one of the very best things you can do for your prospective career.

Get support throughout your internship

When you come to VN internship through our company, you will be supported throughout the process. Transportation, accommodation best price, and we will have a tour of Ho Chi Minh City for you.

What will the teaching be like ?

Page 11: CUNG CAP GIAO VIEN NUOC NGOAI - OUR SERVICES

Teaching is a highly respected profession in Vietnam. Having a good level of English is extremely important for students entering university and the workforce. Students are generally enthusiastic and polite and our teacher interns find themselves greatly appreciated by their schools and students.

Traditionally English teaching methodology has focused on grammar and reading skills and rote-learning of vocabulary. Increasingly however, the emphasis of schools and government policy has turned to ensuring that students can communicate effectively in English.

Many of our schools look to their English teaching interns to provide this kind of practice for the students. It should be realized however that many schools and local teachers are still very traditional in approach and for some students you may be their first foreign teacher so you will need to take things one step at a time!

It may vary slightly, but you are likely to have up to 20 face-to-face teaching hours inclusive in a 35-hour week (which includes lesson preparation time, meetings, administration etc.), as well as be involved in after school activities. Many schools have classes 6 days a week (as they study on Saturdays).

We have placements in local primary and high schools as well as universities. You may be teaching in only one school or several schools in the same area who share intern teachers. You should expect to teach many different classes and age groups even if you are only at one school. We will give you advice on managing learners of different ages and how to adapt your teaching style.

Classes in Vietnamese schools tend to be large but we will help you to acquire techniques for managing larger groups. Facilities vary from school to school with some classrooms having only blackboards and rows of long wooden desks to a few that have modern facilities.

4. Living

Our placement schools are in regions which are comparatively developed and in locations which have reliable transport links or which are within reasonable distance (e.g. 2 hours) of a large city such as Ho Chi Minh

Page 12: CUNG CAP GIAO VIEN NUOC NGOAI - OUR SERVICES

City. However, you should expect to be living a local lifestyle in a Vietnamese neighborhood.

There are significant differences in terms of development between various parts of Vietnam. Some cities are very developed and are rapidly becoming more westernized, for example with stores and restaurant chains that will be familiar to you. Other parts of Vietnam are still developing. Roads are not always great. Local transport and accommodation are quite basic. The availability of western products that you are familiar with may be limited.

Cost of living:

If you shop like a local you can live very cheaply in Vietnam. Local food is usually good quality and most products you need on a daily basis are easily available. Local transport is inexpensive. However, Vietnam does have a well-developed tourism industry and certain places which cater to tourists charge high prices.

Cost of living in Ho Chi Minh City is 58.55% lower than in New York (Info)Our estimator (with default settings) estimate monthly expenses for a single person at 9,489,399.64₫ and for four person family at 34,338,250.53₫ (without rent).(Source: http://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/city_result.jsp?country=Vietnam&city=Ho+Chi+Minh+City)

Shopping:

Prices in Vietnam are very inexpensive, especially if you shop at local markets. The Vietnamese enjoy the process of bargaining for the price of an item. They are professionals at this process, but if you join in the spirit, it is a lot of fun. In the end, no matter how well you bargain, you will still get your purchase at an excellent price – and sometimes the bargaining is only over a few Dong so it is not really threatening.

Food:

We don’t know anyone who hasn’t found food to love here! Vietnamese food is varied, tasty and pretty healthy. Vietnamese recipes use

Page 13: CUNG CAP GIAO VIEN NUOC NGOAI - OUR SERVICES

many vegetables, herbs and spices, including lemon grass, lime, and kaffir lime leaves. The main dish is rice noodle soup called “Pho”, often served for breakfast with either beef (“Bo”), chicken (“Ga”) or Trung (eggs) in clear beef broth. All foods can be found, with duck, pork, beef, fish and chicken commonly served in many different ways. However, the Vietnamese will also serve things that you may not be used to (such as frog, snake and even dog) but there is usually a choice that you can enjoy. Rice and noodles (steamed, fried, boiled) are the staples found in a meal.

Western food is widely available in major citiies and is of very good quality although you should expect to pay significantly more for this. In smaller towns you may find little Western food. Excellent bread and coffee are widely available.

Money:

The Dong is the legal currency of Vietnam. Vietnam is overwhelmingly a cash-based society. Hotels and many large shops will accept credit cards but expect to use cash for everything else. While in Vietnam, the best way to get cash is to use an ATM machine. ATM’s dispense money in Vietnamese Dong.

You could also get a prepaid cash card that acts as an ATM card and debit card, but is not tied to any bank account. It’s also a good idea to bring a credit card to use for emergencies, such as cash advances.

TTV can assist you to open a Vietnamese bank account, which will have access to local and foreign currency. You will only require your passport.

(Note: 1 US Dollar equals 22340.00 Vietnamese Dong – Vietinbank 16 May, 2016)

Mobile Phones:

You can buy a new phone in Vietnam for around $25. Then you buy phone credits (“units”) from street vendors and phone shops. Note that incoming calls are free – including incoming international calls. You can also bring your own phone and buy a local SIM card.

Page 14: CUNG CAP GIAO VIEN NUOC NGOAI - OUR SERVICES

Internet and Laptops:

WiFi is widely available in Vietnam although it can be unreliable at times and there are often power cuts. Internet cafes tend to provide WiFi but expect people to bring their own laptops rather than providing computers for you (although many hotels will do so).

Safety:

Vietnam is generally a safe place to be able to explore. Walking the streets is non-threatening and the Vietnamese generally go about their business. In tourist areas street hawkers will approach you to buy their goods but a firm ‘’khong” or “no” is enough to put them off. As with all cities there are places to avoid, and you should exercise caution at all times. Bag snatching from foreigners is common in tourist areas of Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi but just make sure that you are never carrying much cash with you.

Toilets:

Hotels, restaurants and most homes have western “sit” toilets. But many places do not provide toilet tissue – so buy a small roll and carry it with you everywhere. Next, the used toilet tissue actually gets placed in the trash can, not in the toilet bowl. If you are in a rural area or stop at a petrol station, expect to find a squat toilet.

5.Travel in Vietnam

During your internship there will be a little time for you to explore your local area at the weekends or in short term breaks. However, the idea of the program is that you ‘Teach’ then ‘Travel’! Most interns spend a few weeks travelling around the country after their internship as there is certainly a lot to see and enjoy. You will have some time remaining on your visa at the end of your internship so don’t book your home flight too early!

Places to visit in Vietnam

There are so many spectacular places and sights in Vietnam, it is difficult to condense them into one list and you should definitely consult a

Page 15: CUNG CAP GIAO VIEN NUOC NGOAI - OUR SERVICES

travel guide before planning your trip. However, here are TTV’s top recommendations from North to South….

Sapa: Go trekking among hilltribes and spectacular scenery.

Halong Bay: Why not overnight on a boat and experience one of the New Seven Natural Wonders of the World.

Hanoi: The historic city of Hanoi is the resting place of Ho Chi Minh and seat of the government. The blend of Chinese and French colonial influences makes it both beautiful and fascinating to visit.

Hue: This UNESCO World-Heritage listed town was the ancient capital of Vietnam. Visit temples, the old citadel and take a lazy cruise down the perfume river.

Danang: The largest city of central Vietnam combines the buzz of the big city with beach life. Its famous My Khe or ‘China beach’ is where US soldiers took their R and R during the war.

Hoi An: This beautiful UNESCO World-Heritage listed town is famous for its tailors, handicrafts, traditional houses and nearby beach – book a hotel and they’ll usually pick you up from Danang airport.

Nha Trang: Vietnam’s most famous seaside town.

Dalat: Located in the South Central Highlands this market town is often described as a cross between Vietnam and the French Alps.

Ho Chi Minh City: This bustling, vibrant city is the biggest in Vietnam. The city’s colonial villas, wide avenues and lively café society remind you of the days of French domination but over recent decades the city has experienced a dramatic modernization and the skyline is now dotted with skyscrapers.

The Mekong Delta: This the fertile delta region in the South of Vietnam. Here you can cycle through the countryside beside lush rice paddies, visit floating markets and experience local rural life.

Vung Tao: This southern beach city is easily reachable from Ho Chi Minh City.

Con Dao & Phu Quoc islands: These unspoilt tropical islands are everything that you dream of. Phu Quoc is now firmly on the tourist map with many

Page 16: CUNG CAP GIAO VIEN NUOC NGOAI - OUR SERVICES

flights a day from Ho Chi Minh City. Con Dao is still undeveloped thanks to its status as national park.
