Main Ecotourism Principles:

Russia is considered by the WorldTourism Organization as one of themost promising regions from theviewpoint of ecological tourismdevelopment.

Project Goal

The Project goal is to establish 16 base points(“Base Points”) within the ecotourism cluster tobe included in the integrated network of educationaltourism and “The Path of Leopard” routes throughconstruction of a complex of facilities for the pro�vision of year�round ecological and recreationaltourism services.

(*) – tentative name(**) – This museum complex will include everyday life elements and artifacts of tribes indigenous to thesouthern part of the Far East such as Tazy, Orochi, Nivkhi, Ainu, Nigidal, Nanai, etc., some 12 tribes in total.Also: for customized excursions around Primorsky Territory – mobile unit accommodating tourist groupsup to 10 people on individual programs. “Super�Comfort” and “Vip” series.

«Base Point» Components and Elements

Each of the first seven above said base points of the ecotourism cluster(including Central Estate) includes the following compulsory compo�nents:

1. Information center (permanent subject�matter exposition represent�ing the nature and sites of interest in this area with particular leopardsand other animals living here).

2. Souvenir kiosk.

3. Room for film viewing, presentations and meetings.

4. Room (hall) for recreation combined with a playroom for children andexhibition hall.

5. Catering outlet.

6. Equipment and outfit rental service.

7. Toilet.

The following facilities will be arranged in vicinity ofthe following base points (8�14)*:

1. Parking area2. Car camping area3. Tent camp area4. Mini�hotels (low�cost)5. Guest house of higher comfort level.

Central Estate –main information(year�round) facilityof the ecotourism cluster

It includes:

ADMINISTRATIVE BLOCK (business units, each of them involved in management of and support to educationaland tourism activities on the ecotourism cluster premises:

MUSEUM OF NATURE (educational and informative element of the infrastructure. It will host permanent andtemporary expositions, conduct classes with children and give lectures. Visitors will be able to obtain here detailedconsultations about sites of interest in Primorsky Territory and ongoing scientific studies).

VISIT CENTER (key point of the ecotourism cluster infrastructure where information flows are organized).

Also, the Visit Center will be a venue for the “Spotted Panther” festival of documentary films about the planet’srare felines. The purpose of this festival is to attract attention to rare feline survival problems (Far Eastern leopard,Amur tiger, snow leopard, cheetah, etc.), environmental problems and human�induced impact on environmentconservation and recovery.

It is planned that about 60 tourism, social, business, hotel and transportinfrastructure facilities will be constructed during project implementationphase in Khasansky Municipal District of Primorsky Territory.

Hotels of different comfort level for a total of 1 280 beds, motels and carcampings will be available for tourists.

It is expected that the Ecotourism Cluster “ECOTERRA” Ecological and Rec�reational Tourism Center will be receiving 30 000 (2014) to 700 000 (2018)people per annum. This project will create more than 500 jobs in this region.

Required investment volume is estimated at 3 789 900 thousand rubles.
