Poster Campaign

There were several types of posters in which were created by the producers of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. There were multiple posters used in order to show the characters as individuals as well as hint at what may happen. Each of the posters released had the quote ‘It all ends 7.15’ and behind the ‘7.15’ is the meaning 15th July in which was the release date of Harry Potter. The caption on each poster would be a effective way of marketing as it is clearly stating that Deathly Hallows Part 2 is the last film in the sequel and it will have an explosive ending to resolve a long sequel. The posters developed overtime to show who is involved in the last film and to show a deeper understanding of fans behind the plot and each poster will draw people’s attentions and get the fans wondering on the topic of how it is all going to end. The posters were made in a wide batch so that there is more chance of people seeing them and therefore going to see the final Harry Potter, even if they weren’t fans previously.

Trailers

There were also multiple trailers made in which were serving different purposes. The producers of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows firstly released a teaser trailer in which introduced people to the film in which was later to be released to show clearly that it was aimed at all audiences. However, an actual trailer was later released to show the main highlights of the film to entice the audience further and to show the age restrictions as well as the release date. There were many different trailers released during the time period of marketing as it’s purpose was to interest a wider audience and each trailer had developed and revealed more as time went on, with the narrative becoming more revealing about what is to come. Also in the trailer it is showing that it is the last film in the sequel to be made so this could interest more people in going to see it, whether they are a fan or not.

Online Marketing

The producers of the Harry Potter sequel had continuously used online resources to market their films. This often included social networking, and creating an official film website. The official website in which was created was a way in which fans or internet users could interact and find out more about the upcoming film. On the website it uses introductions and character pages so that the audience can relate to those in the film and also find out more about the film, and make their own judgements on the movie. The producers had also made a facebook page in which was a success in determining how many people were interested in watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II and finding out the opinion of the general public. Online marketing is one of the main ways in which interests people into watching films and relating to this are film premiers and interviews by the cast members.

Film Premieres and InterviewsThere were few premiers and interviews around the release date of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 and this was due to the fact that the producers wanted to entice people more into the plot by using the cast to release their perspectives as an individual and also to entice people more by hinting more at what is going to happen. Often in the Film Premiers and Interviews the cast reveal more about the Deathly Hallows but not enough to spoil the plot, and this would then draw in the audience because they would have to watch the final film to find out more and to discover how it all end. Also with the use of premiers and interviews as a marketing technique it allows the audience to decide their view upon different characters and relate more to the cast as people and therefore entice them more in going to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.

Conclusion

In conclusion I have found that:-The producers of a film create many different trailers in order to release more information each time to entice the audience and revealing more by both the narrative and clips shown to get interest from either previous fans or even new fans.-The producers create multiple posters as main part of a scheme to get a wider audience. They do this by revealing different members of the cast and possible quotations from the film, and/or comments of media members such as reporters. They often use the main characters on different posters in order to gain more interest, and the more in which the actor/actress is known then the more people in which will become interested in the film.-The use of the media in terms of Interviews and magazines, etc are largely important in order to gain an audience. This is because if the film is marketed on a front cover of a film magazine then it will be in the eye-line of the readers and therefore will entice people in which didn’t know about the upcoming movie before. Also reviews may entice more people to go and see the movie alongside interviews which slightly reveal more to the movie.
