Suggestion and proposal
I have proposed to build a fitness center. The fitness club is a 3 story building that contains dance studio and gym. The parking lot is located on the ground floor while dance room is located on the first floor; gym is located on third floor. Other facilities such as washroom and locker are equipped as well.
The main propose of this proposal is to bring convenience to the residents nearby. The residents nearby that area will have easier to access a place to exercise and gym as well. Moreover, it would not be hard for residents to drop off cause the area is easy to access.
a. Proposal by: Wong Mei Xin
b. Project name: Subang Jaya Fitness
c. Project code: SJF 0283
d. Type of construction: Commercial and Recreational area
e. Land area: 26,896 Sq.Ft
f. Site location: Jalan SS 19, Ss 19, 40150 Subang Jaya, Selangor.
g. Estimated time of completion: 1 year and 6 months
Rationale
There are many residential areas around this area and not a lot of commercial and residential area thus the community might find driving out to find a fitness center. Therefore having a fitness center nearby will decrease the need for them to drive far and waste their time on traffic.Hence, this empty land has high potential to become a successful commercial and recreational spot since this area is surrounded by residential area and it is lacking of recreational area.
Benefits to surrounding
This project will benefit in following ways:
1. Residents around that area could have found a place for recreational activities
2. Boosts up economic growth of this area
3. Bring convenience to the residents nearby
4. Creates a spot for people to meet ups Residents
5. The buiding of Subang Jaya Fitness can become a landmark for people to identified
6. Rate of healthy of residents might be improved
7. Creates job opportunity
Impact to surrounding
This project might bring impact in following:
1. Safety of the area might be decreased
2. Garbage accumulates around the area due to irresponsible of people
3. Students might escape class and go to the fitness center
4. Air pollution might increase due to the exhaust from incoming vehicles
5. Will causes traffic congestion as the road in front of the road is narrow
6. Sound pollution might increase due to traffic
7. The opposite residents will be influenced by the noises

Discussing the objectives, requirements and budget of a project
Consulting with other professionals about design
Preparing and presenting feasibility reports and design proposals to the client
Advising the client on the practicality of their project
Using IT in design and project management, specifically using computer-aided design software
Keeping within financial budgets and deadlines
Producing detailed workings, drawings and specifications
Negotiating with contractors and other professionals
Preparing applications for planning and building control departments
Drawing up tender documents for contracts

Controlling a project from start to finish
Regular site visits to check on progress, ensuring that the project is running on time and to budget
Resolving problems and issues that arise during construction
A professional interior designer’s role is to:
Analyse clients’ needs, goals, and life and safety requirements
Integrate findings with knowledge of interior design
Formulate preliminary design concepts that are aesthetic, appropriate, functional, and in accordance with codes and standards
Develop and present final design recommendations
Prepare working drawings and specifications for non-load bearing interior construction, reflected ceiling plans, lighting, interior detailing, materials, finishes, space planning, furnishings, fixtures, and equipment in compliance with universal accessibility guidelines and all applicable codes
Collaborate with other licensed practitioners in the technical areas of mechanical, electrical, and load-bearing design as required for regulatory approval
A professional civil engineer’s role is to:
Undertaking technical and feasibility studies and site investigations
Developing detailed designs
Assessing the potential risks of specific projects, as well as undertaking risk management in specialist roles
Supervising tendering procedures and putting together proposals;

Thinking both creatively and logically to resolve design and development problems
Reviewing and approving project drawings
Undertaking complex and repetitive calculations
A professional structural engineer’s role is to:
Analysing configurations of the basic structural components of a building or other structure
Calculating the pressures, stresses and strains that each component, such as a beam or lintel, will experience from other parts of the structure due to human use or environmental pressures such as weather or earthquakes
Considering the strength of various materials, e.g. timber, concrete, steel and brick, to see how their inclusion may necessitate a change of structural design
Liaising with other designers, including architects, to agree on safe designs and their fit with the aesthetic concept of the construction
Making drawings, specifications and computer models of structures for building contractors
Working with geotechnical engineers to investigate ground conditions and analyse results of soil sample and in situ tests
