FUNCTION LEXIS STRUCTURE PRONUNCIATION

Answering questions about places.

Places in the city: Zoo, funfair, museum, cinema, park, shopping center, clothes shop and cybercafé.

The structure “there is/ there are”. There is a zoo. There isn´t a zoo. There are funfairs. There aren´t funfairs.

Difference between the pronunciation of the vowels in cinema/funfair, Shopping/clothes shop,

Asking questions about the city.

There is/ there (interrogative form) Are there two parks? No, there aren´t. Yes, there are. Is there a zoo? No, there isn´t. Yes, there is.

The difference in the pronunciation of the words: isn´t/ aren´t.

Teaching Approach: CLT

Integration of Skills: the reading and speaking skills are integrated through a

description of a real city which will be used to foster interaction among students

and with the teacher. Also, the reading skills are developed through tasks where the

students have to read the description and decide if the sentences presented are

correct or incorrect.

Pedagogical use of ICT in class: there is no use of technology in that lesson

plan. The time is very short and the lesson plan is based on the topics.

Materials: worksheets with exercises for each student, board, marker and

flashcards related to the topic.

Seating arrangement: depending on the type of activity, the Ss will be sitting in

rows and they sit in groups of 5 students facilitating interaction and discussions.

Cooperative work: the students work in pairs and in groups which facilitate

foster communication and interchange of opinions.

Possible problems and possible solutions: the most important problem

could be timing. In the lesson of 40 minutes the students only are able to do 2

activities, so it is impossible to teach more items or give more activities. This lesson

plan has 3 activities but the first one is only for listening and speaking skills. It is

very short, according to their times.

Assessment: The assessment will be focused on monitoring the students in order

to gather information about the development of language skills.
