Famous Mathematicians from Poland

Hello everybody! My name is Józek and I’m Mathematicians in Poland. Let me show you others famous Mathematicians from my country. So, are you ready? Let’s start!

Jan Łukasiewicz, who was born in what is now Ukraine, was an important mathematical logician. He introduced the so-called Polish notation.

Stefan Mazurkiewicz was a Polish mathematician who worked in mathematical analysis, topology, and probability.

Stanisław Saks was a Polish mathematician who worked in topology, set theory and functional analysis. He was one of the frequenters of the Scottish Café.

Andrzej Mostowski was a Polish mathematician who worked on logic and the foundations of mathematics.

Alfred Tarski made important contributions in many areas of mathematics, including matemathematics, set theory, measure theory, model theory, and general algebra.

Karol Borsuk was a Polish mathematician who made important contributions to topology.

Nicolaus Copernicus was a Polish astronomer and mathematician who was a proponent of the view of an Earth in daily motion about its axis and in yearly motion around a stationary sun. This theory profoundly altered later workers' view of the universe, but was rejected by the Catholic church.
