Contacting us

•  We will be taking school mobile phones on the trip. Students will be given staff contact details on a card on departure day.

•  If you need to contact us in the case of an emergency, please contact the school, who will in turn, contact us.

Behaviour •  Staff are ‘loco parentis’; we would confiscate any inappropriate items. •  Expectations of behaviour are very high. •  Minor incidents – remove privileges, follow teachers around. •  Major incidents – reported to school and could lead to any behaviour sanction. •  Very serious incident which affects health, safety, enjoyment of others –

arrangements would be made to get the student home (it has happened only once at Mountbatten).

•  Be on time. •  Follow instructions. •  Respect evening rules – lights out, in your room not anyone else’s (staff need rest

too). •  Respect where we are visiting. •  Respect your fellow travellers and the country of whom you are a guest. •  No smoking. No drinking of alcohol. Common sense when you have free time.

•  Accommodation is on a half board basis, meaning that breakfast and dinner is provided.

•  Students will need to purchase lunches, drinks and snacks during the day time.

What to bring… INSTRUMENT(!) – Don’t forget spare reeds, strings, leads etc. Money – We suggest €150 euros and £20. Students will want to an amount (TBC) for the Jazz Train excursion we are planning. We suggest €15 a day for drinks, lunch and snacks. Students will need sterling for the journey in the UK. Passport Water bottle Mobile Phones - but please remember to turn internet roaming off! Continental adapter

Clothing

Leisure wear •  The weather is likely to be warm, so shorts, t-shirts etc. •  A warm jumper/hoodie is advisable for cool evenings up a

mountain! Concert dress •  Big Band – black shirts (x3) •  Wind Band – white shirts (x2) •  Tour polo shirt – more info to follow! •  Music Academy ties will be issued prior to the tour, and these

will need to be returned during the last week of term.

•  NB Girls’ skirts need to be of an appropriate length.

Nationale •  Tuesday 14th July: –  2 concerts at venues TBC (all performers)

•  Wednesday 15th July –  Big Band performance at Montreux –  Time to explore the festival and listen to other ensembles

•  Thursday 16th July –  Big Band performance at Montreux –  Time to explore the festival and listen to other ensembles

Fundraising

•  The costs of the tour are more than is covered by the students’ contributions…

•  We are planning to bag pack at Waitrose and have the Big Band playing outside.

•  The date for this is looking to be Saturday 13th June, but we will confirm this in due course.

•  Additional fundraising events are in the pipeline and will be confirmed in due course.
