museum curator, who spent most of his career in British India.

Between 1878 and 1882 he attended the United Services College at Westward Ho in north Devon. He could not enter the military because of poor eyesight.

In1882, at 17 yrs old, Kipling returned to India. His father secured him a job at a newspaper. He wrote for the Lahore Civil and Military Gazette, where he published his stories and poems.

Kipling is best known for :

Kipling died on January 18, 1936 at the age of 70.

Kipling was cremated and his ashes were buried in Poet’s Corner, part of the South Transept of Westminster Abbey, next to the graves of Charles Dickens and Thomas Hardy.
