MODELING AND SIMULATION OF STELLA SOFTWARE(Distance and Time)
PRESENTER:MUZRAIN MOHAMED (D063861)

INTRODUCTION• Modeling is the process of producing a model; a model is a
representation of the construction and working of some system of interest.
• Simulation is a tool to evaluate the performance of a system, existing or proposed, under different configurations of interest and over long periods of real time
• The purpose of this model is to enable the analyst to predict the effect of changes to distance and time.
Advantage of M&S
1. Choose correctly- Let user to test every aspect of a proposed change or addition of the information2. Can compress and expand time- Allow to speed up or slow down the phenomena so that can
have better investigation. 3. Develop understanding- Provide understanding about how a project really operates.4. Visualize the plan- Let user to see how their project are running and allow to detect design flaws that appear credible.
Disadvantage of M&S
1. Require special training- Hard to do without experiences and training.
2. Expensive- The price for the software is expensive and for the trial its not
sufficient because take long time to finish.3. May difficult to interpret- Most simulation results are essentially random variables.
• Modeling and simulation can be powerful active learning experiences. It provides virtual duplication of products and processes and represent those products or processes in readily available and operationally valid environments.
• It also offer opportunity for students to manipulate content knowledge in an active context which engage a variety of learning styles and offers the opportunity to experiences the subject matter in a dynamic ways.
Example Using Of Stella Software For Experiment
HOW? : STELLA modeling and simulation software provides an easy way to represent and solve problem in distance and time.
QUESTION : Jennifer and Jamin were on opposite ends of the country, a distance of 3200 miles. At the same time both started driving toward one another. Jennifer drove at a constant speed of 62 miles per hour. Jamin drove at a constant speed of 53 miles per hour. How many hours elapsed before the two met one another? And how far had each one traveled?
Procedure1. Click on the Run button to run the base case of the model.
2. Adjust the knobs and run the model using different speeds for Jennifer and Jamin.

Analysis
From the graph, we can see that distance traveled is directly proportional to the time elapsed.
