Suratul Feel

• Revealed in Makkah• Surah number 105• 5 verses• “Al Feel “ means “The Elephant”

• There was a Christian governor called Abraha in Yemen.

Suratul Feel

• In 570 AD, Abraha wanted to destroy the Holy Kaa’ba.

• This is because he wanted people to come and worship at a huge church he had built in Yemen.

Suratul Feel

• When he saw nobody was interested in his church, he formed a large army and marched towards the Kaa’ba.

• His army had elephants – known as “Ashabul Feel” meaning “People of the Elephant”

Suratul Feel• When he reached Makkah, he

captured some camels belonging to Abdul Muttalib (grandfather of Holy Prophet [S] ).

Suratul Feel• Abdul Muttalib went to Abraha to ask

for his camels back.• Abraha was puzzled – he had come

to destroy the Kaa’ba and Abdul Muttalib was thinking about his camels!

Suratul Feel

• Abdul Muttalib replied:

“I am the owner of the camels, so I have come for them. The Kaa’ba also has an Owner, Who will look after it”

Suratul Feel• Abraha ignored this warning and took

his army of elephants to invade the Holy Kaa’ba.

Suratul Feel• Allah (SWT) sent down small birds

with stones in their beaks, these stones crushed Abraha’s army.

Suratul Feel• Even though the birds were tiny,

their effect was great because they had the help of Allah (SWT)

• The Kaa’ba was saved and Abraha’s army was destroyed!

يل� ال�ف� اب� ح ص� Have you not seen how your Lord ب�أ

dealt with the fellows of the Elephant?

باب�يل He sent down upon them flocks أ

of birds,

baked clay,

Suratul Feel

• أ�ك�ول# م/ كعص�ف# م� �عله ج فAnd leaving them like straw, eaten up (by cattle).
