INTRODUCTION TO RAYONG THAILAND (Traffic sound) Have you been working for the whole month waking up every morning stuck in the traffic-jam dealing with people that you can’t stand every day that you want to escape this city life? Here is your solution! Have yourself a break! Pack your bags and go for a ride to the place where I grew up My Home Town Rayong. (Waves sound) Savory Fruits Modern industry Tastful fish sauce Beautiful Samet islands Suntorn Phu the great poet These were featured the slogan of Rayong Province which truly represented her identity Rayong located on the eastern seacoast of Thailand (map slide 1) Rayong is only 179 km. from Bangkok transportations are most continent by 5 major ultra-modern highways to Rayong and other destinations on the east of Thailand. And… I’m your guide tour for today! Let’s start off with the place to eat! The place to eat Apache’ Restaurant : For delicious seafood on tranquil and pristine beat at Ao Lung Dam (อ่าวลุงดำ) on Koh Samed Island. How to get there?! To get to the place tourists take a ferry boat from Ban Phe Pier (บ้านแพ) in Rayong it takes 40 minutes from the pier on the mainland to Na Dan (หน้าด่าน) pier on Koh Samet . The ferry boats shuttle daily from 8:00 am. To 4:00 pm. and fee is 100 Baht per person. After getting off the ferry boat, tourists take the green mini bus to go to Ao Lung Dam (อ่าวลุงดำ) at 40-50 baht per person. The place to stay This great resort is set on the beautiful Eastern Thai coastline just one hour drive from Pattaya, Guests of Rayong Marriott resort and spa can enjoy beach front resort activities and boat excursions to the stunning nearby island, such as Koh Samet and Koh Mani. It costs 3,000 Baht per night. The place to travel There are many tourist attractions in Rayong but today I’m taking you to Hat Sai Keaw (หาดทรายแก้ว) or Diamond sand beach is the island widest and whitest stretch of sand as well as its busiest beach, with sun bathers, Sarong sellers, speed boats, jet-skies, resorts and restaurants galore. At the southern end of Hat sai Keaw are the prince and mermaid statues that memorialise Samet’s literary role in Phra Aphaimani, the great Thai epic by Sunthorn Phu. Ending Question : Have anybody in this class been to Rayong and where did you go in Rayong?
