Grammar : There is / There are

- Utilitzem aquesta estructura quan volem dir el que hi ha en un lloc. En català la forma

és invariable, encara que sigui plural. Així doncs, traduirem les frases afirmatives de la

manera següent:

- There is a table : Hi ha una taula

- There are two chairs : Hi ha dues cadires. (no direm : Hi han dues cadires)

Countable and uncountable nouns

A la frase a) les paraules acaben amb –s, són plurals , es poden comptar : crisps ( patates

fregides) , bananas (plàtans). Són paraules comptables (countable nouns).

A la frase b) les paraules no acaben amb –s, són singulars i no es poden comptar: orange juice, (suc de taronja) , milk (llet). Són paraules incomptables (uncountable nouns).
