CAPITAL CITY
→ The capital city of the Valencian Community is Valencia.
→ And we live in the east of Valencia, in the Horta Nord.
POPULATION→ We have a total population of 4.939.550 people.
→ Valencia: 2.543.209 inhabitants.
→ Castellón: 594.915 inhabitants .
→Alicante:1.891.477 inhabitants.
CLIMATE→ Our annual average temperature is around 18ºC.
→ On average we only have 44 rain days a year.
→ We also have an average humidity of 65%.
→ We have the chance to enjoy one of the most optimal number of hours of daylight in Europe. An average of 10 or 8 hours.
RELIEF IN OUR COMMUNITY
→ The highest peaks are in the Valencia and Castellon provinces.
→ The most emblematic mountain of our community is called Penyagolosa, in the province of Castellón, it’s 1815 metres high.
OUR COASTS→ Our coasts are free of mountains except from those of El Cap de la
Nau in Alicante and those from Peñíscola in Castellón.

L’HORTA NORD→ It is an area in Northern
Valencia. It’s really important because it the last piece of land for
agriculture surrounding a big city (Valencia) . Some of our products
from the “Horta Nord” are potatoes, tiger nuts, oranges,
persimmons,etc.
FAUNA→It’s really diverse. There are some freshwater fishes and amphibians. We also
have rapacious birds and aquatic ones too.
GASTRONOMY
→ The most famous dish in Valencia is “Paella”.Ingredients: rice, saffron, chicken and rabbit, flat broad beans and green beans.
→ Another well known dish is “Fideuà”. Ingredients: noodles, saffron, prawns and onions.
STEWSMain ingredients: bones, rice, pork, sausage and vegetables. It is typical
especially in Christmas Day.
OUR SPECIAL SAUCEIt’s called “Allioli” which literally
means garlic and oil because those are the ingredients.
STARTERS
→ “Mojama”Ingredients:salted tuna.
→ “Esgarraet” Ingredients: roasted peppers into strips, salted cod crumbs, garlic and oil.
POPULAR DRINKS
→“Orxata”It’s sweet and it’s made of “xufa”
(tiger nuts).
→ “Mistela”
It’s a liqueur made from the mixture of grape and alcohol.
TRADITIONAL FESTIVITIESThe most popular are “Fallas”: people annually build huge (like buildings) beautiful monuments and then as a tradition they burn them in the night of 19th march
“9 D’OCTUBRE”→ We commemorate the entry in the city of Valencia of King James I in 1238.And we eat "marzipan" which
is typical.

the hand.

→We have two languages: spanish and valencian language (catalan).

dominican philosopher → “Joaquín Sorolla”: he was painter and a graphic artist.
LITERATURE→ “Vicente Blasco Ibañez”: he was a
writer, journalist and politician.
SCIENCE AND MEDICINE→ “Pedro Cavadas”: he is a plastic surgeon. he achieved the first face transplant performed in Spain and the eighth in the world.
MUSIC→ “Concha Piquer”: she was a singer
and a valencian actress.
→ “Nino Bravo”: he became a singer thanks to Eurovision.
CINEMA AND TELEVISION→ “Joaquín Prat”:he was one of the most important presenters of television and radio.
