MICROPILESYSTEM Micropiles are defined as a pile that is 300mm or less in diameter

Designed as a friction pile

Installed using specialized drilling equipment

Capacity of micropiles range from 50kN (11 kips) to 5000kN (1,125 kips)

MICROPILE CAPACITY& COMPONENTS

Micropile capacity is based on:

Mechanical strength of Dywidag Bar (Hollow and Solid)• Various sizes available

Competency of soil / rock Relies on friction along surface of pile for

capacity

Advantages:

Ability to work with small drill rigs without casing in restricted access areas

Similar installation methods for all ground conditions

Drills through obstacles

Rock

When would we suggest Micropiles:

New construction Augmentation of existing

footings High loads in tension or

compression that require bedrock embedment

Obstructions in soil (rock, concrete, etc.)

Compression and tension loads

Tiebacks for shoring and retaining structures

APPLICATIONS OF MICROPILES
