Chris Coalt Guitarist and vocalist, Chris Coalt Jr., was influenced by his father to play guitar at age 12. It was not long after when began to write his own songs. Chris received an early perspective of what it takes to be in a group, by sitting in and performing with his father’s band. During high school, Chris furthered his abilities through instruction from a variety of mentors and focusing his time on his own trio. At age 18, he joined his father and formed the band “The Cartel”. Chris gained experience by playing gigs, used his songwriting abilities to record an all original C.D. with the band, and also broadened his knowledge by studying music at Sinclair Community College. His creativity and skills were also strengthened by taking lessons from local Dayton Jazz musician, Michael Kotur, and studying at the Dayton Jazz Arts Studio.

Chris played a brief stint with fellow-guitarist Noah Wotherspoon, while still continuing to play with the Cartel. He joined Sauers to form Romeo Champagne in 2006. Chris is a dynamic part of Romeo with his eclectic writing style and driving ambition on the guitar. His unique style provides a sound that produces a tonal energy for the crowd who in return keeps him focused and able to produce a powerful and energetic performance.

Josh JohnsonDrummer and vocalist, Joshua D. Johnson, has been active in the Dayton, Ohio music scene for about 15 years playing various styles of music from alternative to roots and blues. During the 12 year period of playing with The Noah Wotherspoon Band he played seven consecutive years at the Chicago Blues Festival and recorded with a number of artists including Hubert Sumlin and Marshall Jones of The Ohio Players. Josh has gained inspiration from sharing the stage with distinguished musicians such as Leon Russell, Boz Scaggs, Hubert Sumlin, Bob Margo-lin & Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band and Joe Bonamassa. Through the years Josh has played renowned rooms from Gilly's in Dayton, Ohio to Buddy Guy's Legends in Chicago, Illinois. He brings an element to Romeo Champagne like no other with his steady rhythm, dynamic fills and vocals.

Danny SauersBand founder, Danny Sauers, was born in Trois Rivières, Quebec, to a musical family that taught him that spoons were not just eating utensils. Introduced to the tenor sax at the age of 9 he began his musical journey. In another 7 years, Danny began playing in clubs. It would be the musicians he met in those places that would influence his style. It would be in those clubs that he would develop his love for rock, blues, funk, jazz, reggae and zydeco. Danny developed his “old school” vibe playing blues with Piney Brown, Snapper Mitcham and Eddie King, his groove playing reggae with Seefari, Groove Therapy and Demolition Crew, his desire playing fusion and traveling with Heavy Weather and his story with singer/songwriter Sharon Lane. His fire and soulfulness is bled from many a wondrous adventure such as; hitchhiking throughout the country, living in the high desert and the stories heard while driving a taxi.

Danny has shared the stage with many influences such as Leon Russell, John Hammond Jr., Koko Taylor, Lonnie Mack, Johnny Neal, Paul Gerimiah, Rory Block, Mikey Dread, Beanie Man and many more. Danny’s mission is to continue mixing it up with a funky backbeat wherever it may take him.

Rob ThaxtonRob Thaxton began playing music at age 10 when he picked up the saxophone for elementary school band class. While he continued to play the sax through high school, he found a new love in the guitar, which he began playing at age 11. He started lessons with Springfield based guitarist John Lippolis in his freshman year of high school and continued studying with Mr. Lippolis throughout his high school years. At the age of 14 Rob began playing the bass guitar after becoming interested in his high school jazz ensemble. Rob played bass in the jazz ensemble for 4 years including 3 years with the Champaign County All County Jazz Band. He then went on to study bass at Capital-University in Columbus Ohio after Graduating.

An avid jazz fan, Rob draws much of his musical influence from many bassists and other instrumentalists such as: John Patitucci, Jaco Pastroius, Dave Holland, Michael Brecker, Miles Davis, Kenny Garrett, John Scofield, Joshua Redman, and many others. In his spare time Rob enjoys cooking, reading up on history, philosophy, and politics, and giving bass and guitar lessons.
