The wheel has now become operational and provides energy to power the distillery’s visitor center, as well as its displays.

Historically, the wheel harnessed energy from the River Test to produce paper used to make bank notes for the British Empire.

BOMBAY SAPPHIRE is pleased to honor this heritage while making its distillery as green as possible.

A member of the Bacardi family of brands, BOMBAY SAPPHIRE remains dedicated to doing its part to meet the goal of net zero impact, and the distillery at Laverstoke Mill has received a great deal of attention for its environmentally friendly innovations.

In 2014, the distillery won the BREEAM Industrial Award, becoming the first distillery to claim this honor.

BREEAM, which assesses a building’s environmental impact, recognized the BOMBAY SAPPHIRE Distillery at Laverstoke Mill for its commendably low use of carbon energy.
