Mackerel

-The mackerel has an elongated body, moderately

tablet, with gray shades

blue on the back and silvery on the belly and flanks,

with a very pronounced wing.

It is found in the North-Archipelago

Madeira and the Mediterranean Sea, where

dwells in the water column from the surface

to the bottom in coastal areas with 100 to

200 m deep. large schools

which carry considerable migration,

feeding on small crustaceans,

fish and shellfish. Reproduces December

April, with a peak in February.

It is fished with encirclement, trawl nets and

Gillnets.
