Individual’s involvement in SBA campaign

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was started to make our country clean by involving the citizens. It was clearly declared by our PM that anyone can actively participate in the campaign at anytime, by:-

• Waste Segregation.

• Reduce – Reuse – Recycle.

• Don't indulge in Littering, and don't tolerate it in others. Speak up whenever you can, and stop others.

• Not frowning upon paying your Swachh Bharat Cess and Penalties.

Corporate India’s involvement in SBA campaign

• At the PM’s invitation, the India Incorporation had come forward and joined him in this mission. What is encouraging is that Indian companies did not even wait for the campaign to fall under the mandatory CSR policy.

• CSR schemes have become a statutory requirement for all the corporate offices as per The Companies Act, 2013.

• These schemes are a mechanism through which the Companies invest in activities beneficial to society as a whole.

• Both public and privately-held Indian companies had extended their full support to this cause, even before it was formally brought under CSR.

Penalties

#SHUKRIYA

• The Maharashtra government approved an anti-spitting law. If you now decide to spit on the streets, you will be fined Rs. 1,000 and will have to spend a day performing community service at a public office or a government office.

• However, this is for first-time offenders, and the punishment and fine is higher for repeat offenders. For a second-time offender, the fine will be Rs. 3,000 plus three-day community service, and for repeat offenders the fine will be Rs 5,000 plus five-day community service.

• Littering, throwing waste in the open, dumping electronic waste, defacement of public places it will have monetary penalties much like the penalties which come under the category of ‘Making Atmosphere Noxious to Health’, the section 278 of Indian Criminal law.

• People know what Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is.

• People know what the logo of SBA is.

• People know what the tag-line of SBA is.

• People know who inspired the concept of SBA.

• People are also contributing to the mission at personal levels, but not all of them.

Awareness amongst the citizens is high. However, the mission is not only to make the people aware of the concept, but also to convert this

awareness into action.

Observations

#SHUKRIYA

What is #SHUKRIYA ?

• #Shukriya is a campaign we used to express gratitude at a community level towards the little things and people who help us keep our county clean.

• Gratitude being the greatest gift, will always motivate people to get going.

• This campaign is to appreciate and know the kind of hard work they do and to take measures to not keep India dirty.

Conclusion“Cleanliness is Next to Godliness”

We can surely say that Swachh Bharat will really bring Godliness all over our country in coming years, only if we follow it in an

effective manner.

If you don’t throw banana peel in your house so why throw it on streets. Appreciate the sweepers efforts just like you appreciate

your mom’s.

If our moms are the heroes of our house, they are the unsung heroes of our country. So stop blaming and start taking

initiatives.
