Novamox (Generic Amoxicillin Capsules) are used in the treatment
of infections due to susceptible (only -lactamase-negative) strains
of designated microorganisms. Novamox is used in the treatment of
infections of the ear, nose, throat, genitourinary tract, skin and
skin structure, and lower respiratory tract. It is also used
together with other medicines for treatment of H. pylori infection
and duodenal ulcer disease.

Active Ingredient

Trihydrate. Each capsule contains Amoxycillin Trihydrate IP
equivalent to Amoxycillin 250 mg or 500 mg.

Uses of Novamox Capsules

Novamox capsules (Generic Amoxicillin) is used for the treatment
of Skin and Skin Structure, Respiratory (Acute and Chronic),
Genitourinary Tract (complicated and uncomplicated, Acute and
Chronic), Gonorrhoea and Prophylaxis of endocarditis due to
susceptible strains of sensitive organisms.

Novamox (Generic Amoxicillin Capsules) has to be stored at
controlled room temperature i.e. 20C (68F ). Store in a cool dry
place. Keep this as well as all other medicines away from children
and pets.
Warnings

Serious, and occasionally fatal, hypersensitivity reactions
(anaphylaxis) have been observed in patients receiving beta-lactam
antibiotics. Before starting theatment with Novamox or any
penicillin careful enquiry should be made concerning previous
hypersensitivity reactions to penicillins, cephalosporins or other
allergens. If an allergic reaction occurs, appropriate therapy
should be instituted and Amoxycillin therapy stopped.

Upper Respiratory Tract Infections (due to streptococci,
pneumococci, non-penicillinase-producing staphylococci and H.
influenzae); Genito-Urinary Tract Infections (due to Escherichia
coli, Proteus mirabilis and Strep. faecalis); Skin And Soft Tissue
Infections (due to streptococci, sensitive staphylococci and
Escherichia coli): The normal adult dosage is 250 mg every 8 hours.
In severe infections or those caused by less susceptible organisms,
500 mg every 8 hours is recommended for adults.

Lower Respiratory Tract Infections (due to streptococci,
pneumococci, non-penicillinase producing staphylococci and
Haemophilus influenzae): Adults: 500 mg every 8 hours.
Urethritis (due to Neisseria gonorrhoea): Adults: 3g as single
dose.
Acute, Uncomplicated Lower Urinary Tract Infections (due to
Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, Strep. faecalis,
non-penicillinase producing staphylococci): Adults: 3g as a single
dose.

Contraindications
Novamox capsules are contraindicated in patients with a
hypersensitivity to Amoxycillin, beta-lactam antibiotics (eg.
penicillins, cephalosporins) or any other component of this
medication.

Common side effects of Novamox Capsules (Generic Amoxicillin)
include upset stomach, vomiting and diarrhea.
Please inform your doctor immediately in case you experience any
of the following serious side effects: Severe skin rash, hives,
seizures, yellowing of the skin or eyes, unusual bleeding or
bruising, pale skin, excessive tiredness or lack of energy.
Novamox Overdose

In case of Novamox overdosage, discontinue the medication
immediately. The patient should be treated symptomatically, and
supportive measures should be instituted as may be required. If the
overdosage is very recent and there is no contraindication, an
attempt at emesis or other means of removal of Amoxicillin from the
stomach may be performed.
Novamox During Pregnancy

Novamox (Generic Amoxicillin Capsules) has been classified by
the US FDA as Pregnancy Category B. Reproduction studies have been
performed in animals at doses up to 2000 mg/kg revealed no evidence
of harm to the fetus due to Amoxicillin. However, no adequate and
well-controlled studies in pregnant women have been conducted.
Since animal reproduction studies are not always predictive of
human response, Amoxicillin should be used during pregnancy only if
clearly needed.
