Who is Best Friends?

Founded in 1984, Best Friends Animal Society works nationwide in outreach programs with shelters, rescue groups and members to promote pet adoption, spay-and-neuter services, and humane education programs.

The Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah is the largest no-kill shelter in the U.S., and was featured in “Dogtown,” the

wildly popular show on the National Geographic Channel.

What is Strut Your Mutt?

Strut Your Mutt (SYM) is an annual, nationwide fundraising dog walk and festival that raises money to help save the lives of homeless pets.

Started in Salt Lake City 18 years ago, the event now spans 11 cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Portland, Austin & St. Louis. In 2012, nearly 11,000 people took part in the walk, raising $1.3 million dollars.

Why do we Strut?

Every day, more than 9,000 pets are killed in America’s shelters simply because they don’t have a home.

Best Friends Animal Society and local animal rescue organizations and shelters have joined together to bring that number to zero. Donations raised through SYM will be used to fund lifesaving adoption programs and spay/neuter services.
