First, let me introduce myself. My name is Yossi Hasson and I am a Managing Director with Techstars. I manage the Africa FinTech accelerator. What this means is that I choose the companies that enter the accelerator and once accepted act as a connector, chief supporter, mentor and the person that helps to make sure you are always seizing the amazing opportunities made available to you. My background is as a successful entrepreneur, investor, and mentor of start-ups.

I started my third business by the age 21, a company called SYNAQ. Together we my co-founder, we scaled that business to over 40 employees, 5,000 clients and 1 million users per month. Thereafter, I successfully managed to exit that business to one of Africas largest IT distribution and cloud service providers, Dimension Data.

I tell you that to let you know that as the person that will be working closest with you, I have walked in your shoes. Felt both the highs and lows of starting, scaling and exiting your business. It is why I feel privileged to be able to talk to you and potentially work with you on this incredible program.

This is about plugging your start-up into two giant global networks

#GEC2017 | GEC.CO

At Techstars, we believe you can build a great company anywhere in the world so long as you can access the right networks and partnerships. As the name of the Barclays Techstars Accelerator connotes, this program is about plugging your company into two giant global networks the first being Barclays, one of the worlds largest banks, and Techstars, the worlds leading global accelerator.

Four Accelerator Programs, Across Four Continents

#GEC2017 | GEC.CO

Barclays and Techstars have a formed a partnership to create a network of 4 FinTech accelerator programs across 4 continents. We began in London three years ago and now have programs in Cape Town, New York, and Tel Aviv. So, if you get into the Africa program, you can consider yourself connected to the investor and mentor bases of all our locations.

WHAT IS TECHSTARS?

#GEC2017 | GEC.CO

So lets talk about the two networks coming together in this program. The first is Techstars. What is Techstarswell, quite simply

Techstars is the best global ecosystem for entrepreneurs to bring new technologies to market.
