Character Relationship & Genre • Main Characters- Tom & JerryPlaying off the relationship and names of classic cartoon characters ‘Tom & Jerry’ that

our main characters with held. We therefore looked and researched films such as:

• ‘Lets Be Cops’

• ‘Bad Boys’

• ‘21 Jump Street’

• ‘Ride Along’

• ‘Hot Fuzz’

…like our audience feedback suggested

We did this, as like classic cartoon ‘Tom and Jerry’ we wanted to demonstrate a sense of entertainment and comedy between two characters. From this research we concluded typical codes and conventions such as character traits and a close knit relationship, that we wanted inhibited within our two focal characters.

This persuaded us as a group to develop and story and plot of a more comedic element/genre.

Location Recce Here are some selected locations we need to execute plot points within our story:

•Office This will not be shown of use until the very end of the film, for when the audience is revealed that everything was a dream

Jerry waking up Tom as adults

School/Classroom•This location will be used for a large majority of the story, particularly for when Tom and Jerry are portrayed as young students. This includes plot points such as:

Tom and Jerry in classThe fire alarm going off

The chase sequence between Tom, Jerry and The Mystery Thief.

Scene 1-2 These pictures represent the classroom setting and bored body language of Tom and Jerry as they sit in class.

This normal/everyday classroom environment created a contrast of unexpected drama that comes within the next few plot points of the story such as the theft, and fire drill.

These images in particular portray the type of facial expression we want Tom and Jerry mischievously exchange looks before they turn into cops.

We want this part to be dramatically funny and in slow motion similar to 21 jump street. (0:50-1:15)

Scene 3-4These images mainly conclude the intense build up of action and suspense, as the audience follow Tom & Jerry in successfully finding the vending machine thief

In comparison to previous points in the story, this segment of the film should be of heightened excitement.

Scene 5And lastly, these images represent the final scene within our story when Tom and Jerry suddenly awake, all to find out that they had fallen asleep at their boring office job, and all was a dream.

This should then portray a juxtaposition to reality (when they are adults) and dreams (when they are school children).
