Hannah’s Overcoming Faith

1 Samuel 1:1-19

1 エフライムの山地ラマタイム・ツォフィムに、その名をエルカナというひとりの人がいた。この人はエロハムの子、順次さかのぼって、エリフの子、トフの子、エフライム人ツフの子であった。There was a certain man from Ramathaim, a Zuphite from the hill country of Ephraim, whose name was Elkanah son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephraimite.

2 エルカナには、ふたりの妻があった。ひとりの妻の名はハンナ、もうひとりの妻の名はペニンナと言った。ペニンナには子どもがあったが、ハンナには子どもがなかった。 He had two wives; one was called Hannah and the other Peninnah. Peninnah had children, but Hannah had none.

3 この人は自分の町から毎年シロに上って、万軍の主を礼拝し、いけにえをささげていた。そこにはエリのふたりの息子、主の祭司ホフニとピネハスがいた。Year after year this man went up from his town to worship and sacrifice to the LORD Almighty at Shiloh, where Hophni and Phinehas, the two sons of Eli, were priests of the LORD.

4 その日になると、エルカナはいけにえをささげ、妻のペニンナ、彼女のすべての息子、娘たちに、それぞれの受ける分を与えた。 Whenever the day came for Elkanah to sacrifice, he would give portions of the meat to his wife Peninnah and to all her sons and daughters.

5 しかしハンナには特別の受け分を与えていた。主は彼女の胎を閉じておられたが、彼がハンナを愛していたからである。 But to Hannah he gave a double portion because he loved her, and the LORD had closed her womb.

6 彼女を憎むペニンナは、主がハンナの胎を閉じておられるというので、ハンナが気をもんでいるのに、彼女をひどくいらだたせるようにした。 Because the LORD had closed Hannah’s womb, her rival kept provoking her in order to irritate her.

7 毎年、このようにして、彼女が主の宮に上って行くたびに、ペニンナは彼女をいらだたせた。そのためハンナは泣いて、食事をしようともしなかった。 This went on year after year. Whenever Hannah went up to the house of the LORD, her rival provoked her till she wept and would not eat.

8 それで夫エルカナは彼女に言った。「ハンナ。なぜ、泣くのか。どうして、食べないのか。どうして、ふさいでいるのか。あなたにとって、私は十人の息子以上の者ではないのか。」 Her husband Elkanah would say to her, “Hannah, why are you weeping? Why don’t you eat? Why are you downhearted? Don’t I mean more to you than ten sons?”

9 シロでの食事が終わって、ハンナは立ち上がった。そのとき、祭司エリは、主の宮の柱のそばの席にすわっていた。 Once when they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh, Hannah stood up. Now Eli the priest was sitting on his chair by the doorpost of the LORD’s house.

10 ハンナの心は痛んでいた。彼女は主に祈って、激しく泣いた。 In her deep anguish Hannah prayed to the LORD, weeping bitterly.

And she made a vow, saying, “LORD Almighty, if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son,

11b 私はその子の一生を主におささげします。そして、その子の頭に、かみそりを当てません。」 then I will give him to the LORD for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head.”

12 ハンナが主の前で長く祈っている間、エリはその口もとを見守っていた。 As she kept on praying to the LORD, Eli observed her mouth.

13 ハンナは心のうちで祈っていたので、くちびるが動くだけで、その声は聞こえなかった。それでエリは彼女が酔っているのではないかと思った。 Hannah was praying in her heart, and her lips were moving but her voice was not heard. Eli thought she was drunk

14 エリは彼女に言った。「いつまで酔っているのか。酔いをさましなさい。」 and said to her, “How long are you going to stay drunk? Put away your wine.”

15 ハンナは答えて言った。「いいえ、祭司さま。私は心に悩みのある女でございます。ぶどう酒も、お酒も飲んではおりません。私は主の前に、私の心を注ぎ出していたのです。 “Not so, my lord,” Hannah replied, “I am a woman who is deeply troubled. I have not been drinking wine or beer; I was pouring out my soul to the LORD.

16 このはしためを、よこしまな女と思わないでください。私はつのる憂いといらだちのため、今まで祈っていたのです。」 Do not take your servant for a wicked woman; I have been praying here out of my great anguish and grief.”

17 エリは答えて言った。「安心して行きなさい。イスラエルの神が、あなたの願ったその願いをかなえてくださるように。」 Eli answered, “Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked of him.”

18 彼女は、「はしためが、あなたのご好意にあずかることができますように」と言った。それからこの女は帰って食事をした。彼女の顔は、もはや以前のようではなかった。 She said, “May your servant find favor in your eyes.” Then she went her way and ate something, and her face was no longer downcast.

19 翌朝早く、彼らは主の前で礼拝をし、ラマにある自分たちの家へ帰って行った。エルカナは自分の妻ハンナを知った。主は彼女を心に留められた。

Early the next morning they arose and worshiped before the LORD and then went back to their home at Ramah. Elkanah made love to his wife Hannah, and the LORD remembered her.

ハンナの背景 Hannah’s Background

What does it mean to be barren? 不妊であることの意味： •Socially: she was looked at as a failure and an

embarrassment to her husband.

•社会的には、失敗者と見なされ、夫の恥

•Culturally: she could be divorced.

•文化的には、夫から離婚されても仕方ない

•In addition: she faced opposition from those around

her, like Peninnah. (v6)

•それに加え、ペニンナなど周りの人から馬鹿にされた

• Your spouse doesn’t understand you.

• 何の理由もなく、いじめや被害を受けている

• You are experiencing barrenness in your work, ministry, relationship etc.

1. ハンナは神に約束をし、

それを守った

She made a promise and kept it (gave Samuel back to God).

She worshipped and gave thanks. (v19)
