Maha Shivratri Celebration

The Rituals

According to the Shiva Purana, the Mahashivaratri worship must incorporate six items:

1.Bathing the Shiva Linga with water,

milk and honey (Woodapple leaves are added too)

2. After bathing it, vermilion paste is applied to the Shiva Linga

3. Offering of fruits (It is traditional to offer at least five fruits)

4. Burning incense

5. The lighting of a ghee lamp

6. Offering betel leaves
