ABOUT TAMILNADU

Tamil Nadu is an enchanting and ancient land in the extreme south of peninsular India. It has an impressive coastline along the Bay of Bengal over 1000 k.m.

Tamil Nadu is the eleventh largest state in India by area 130,058 km2 and the sixth most populous state in India.

Tamilnadu is establish in 26 January 1950. Nearly 33,000 ancient temples, many at least 800 to

1200 years old, are found scattered all over the state.

Ranganathanswamy temple is often listed as the largest functioning Hindu temple in the world.

The temple occupies an area of 156 acres (631,000 m²) with a perimeter of 4,116m (10,710 feet) making it the largest temple in India and one of the largest religious complexes in the world.

The Ranganathanswamy Temple complex with 49 shrines, all dedicated to Lord Vishnu.

Constructed in the Dravidian style of architecture and it is located in Trichy.

Ranganathanswamy, one of the important Vaishnavite pilgrim centre and ranks first among the 108 Divya Deshams.

Thillai Natarajah Temple, or Chidambaram temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in the town of Chidambaram, East-Central Tamil Nadu, South India.

Chidambaram is a temple complex spread over 40 acres (160,000 m2) in the heart of the city.

It is truly a large temple which is completely used for religious purpose.

The main complex to Lord Shiva Nataraja also contains shrines to deities such as Sivakami Amman, Ganesh, Murugan and Vishnu in the form Govindaraja Perumal.

ANNAMALAIYAR TEMPLE Annamalaiyar Temple is a noted Hindu temple dedicated to

Lord Shiva, and it is the second largest temple (by the area used completely for religious purpose).

It has got four stately towers on all the four sides and four high stone walls just like the rampart walls of a fort.

Annamalaiyar Temple is located in Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu, India and temple complex spread over 101171 area (m²)

Constructed in the Dravidian style of architecture. The tallest is the eastern tower, with 11 stories and a height of

66 metres (217 ft), making it one of the tallest temple towers in India.

Meenakshi Amman Temple (also called: Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple, Tiru-aalavaai and Meenakshi Amman Kovil)

It is dedicated to Parvati, known as Meenakshi, and her consort, Shiva, here named Sundareswarar.

The name "Mīnachchi" means fish-eyed and is derived from the words "mīna" meaning fish and "akṣi" meaning eyes.

The temple forms the heart and lifeline of the 2500-year-old city of Madurai.

NAGESWARAR TEMPLE This temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is located in the heart

of Kumbakonam. Built in 12th century by Aditya Chola, an architectural

marvel with building technology and astronomy. It bears another name called Surya Kottam or Keezha

Kottam. The Karuvarai (Sanctum Sanctorum) of Nageswaran

temple is similar to Sarangapani Temple The temple consists of three gopurams in the eastern,

western and southern directions.

EKAMBARESWARAR TEMPLE Ekambareswarar Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated

to Shiva, located in Kanchipuram in the state of Tamil Nadu, India.

The temple gopuram (gateway tower) is 59m tall, which is one of the tallest gopurams in India.

It is one of the five major Shiva temples or Pancha Bootha Sthalams (each representing a natural element) representing the element Earth.

The complex is in around 92,860 Area (m²)

The Ramaswamy temple is located at the heart of the Kumbakonam and has a unique idol in the form of Lord Rama and his consort Sita in the Pattabhishekam Posture.

The idol was surrounded by Lord Hanuman, Rama‘s brothers Lakshmana, Shatrugna and Bharatha.

The temple has beautiful architecture pieces and has been built by the Nayakkar kings

The temple has a 3-tiered gopuram surrounded by walls. Constructed in the Dravidian style of architecture.

The golden temple of Sripuram is a spiritual park situated at the foot of a small range of green hills in a place known as "Malaikodi" in the city of Vellore in Tamil Nadu, India.

The temple is at the southern end of the city of Vellore, at Tirumalaikodi.

Golden temple of Sripuram is also similar to the golden temple of Amritsir

The complex is in around 55,000 Area (m²)
