Who is Voltaire?• Voltaire was a
French Enlightenment writer, historian and philosopher.
• Anagram of "AROVET LI "
• Initial letters of "le jeune" ("the younger").
Voltaire’s birth• He was born in Paris one 21st of November 1694.
• He was educated by the Jesuits at the Collège Louis-le-Grand.• He started to work as a an assistant to a notary.
• His father sent him to study law and later to the Netherlands.
Voltaire’s death• Throughout his
life he lived in London, Cirey, Geneva and Femey.
• He died on 30th May 1778.
Novels• His best-known
novels are:• The Age of Louis XIV
(1751), • Essay on the
Customs and the Spirit of the Nations (1756).
Epic poems• Voltaire wrote two
book-long epic poems in French, the Henriade, and later, The Maid of Orleans.
