Hi! I’m Maxim Ostrogorski. I live in stanitsa Sergievskaja and I like my home place very much. I am a pupil of the 6th form. My favourite subjects are English and PE. My hobby is football.Football is everything for me. I can’t imagine my life without football.

LET ME INTRODUCE MYSELF

I want to tell you about a man whom I respect very much. It’s Sergei Ivanov, our clergyman. Priest Sergei heads the parish of Holy Trinity in our village. He is a very responsible, partial and sympathetic person, always ready to help people. He pays much attention to his parishioners, especially to teenagers. Priest Sergei is a frequent guest at our school. Everything interests him: our study, leisure activities, our likes and dislikes.

You have probably heard of the Orthodox Assumption football tournament, organized by the Diocese of Volgograd. Football games are held in the city of Michailovka every year in August and gather young football players from different cities of Volgograd region. It’s very prestigious competition and our school football team always had a great desire to take part in it.

THE ORTHODOX ASSUMPTION FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

Last year our dream became a true thanks to our Priest Sergei. He organized our trip and helped to buy sport uniform for the team. So we got chance to participate in this competition. It was fantastic! Though our team had lost this game, it was an unforgettable event! Firstly, we felt the atmosphere of the competition. Besides, we gained experience and tested our own trength. Moreover, we made friends with people from other cities.

UNFORGETTABLE MOMENTS

Priest Sergei was with us. He cheered us up constantly. His words encouraged us to play better. We were impressed by the event. I took a lot of pictures of my friends and myself. This year we are going to participate in the Orthodox Assumption football tournament again. Priest Sergei helps us. He and the headteacher arrange transport, accommodation and social program. As for the team, it trains hard and hopes to win. Priest Sergei believes in our success. His faith and support inspires everybody. We will succeed! I think we are lucky to meet such man as Priest Sergei.
