Problems• There are billions of people on Earth, so treating sewage is a big
priority.
• Millions of litres of raw or partially treated sewage is pumped into the sea every day.
• The untreated water is toilet and washing water meanwhile the treated water is bath, shower and cooking water.
• In the USA 4.5 trillion litres of untreated sewage is discharged into the storm water.
• When people flush rubbish down the toilet it can end up in rivers, seas and beaches.
• 95% of the worlds cites still dump raw sewage into their water supplies.
Solutions• People need to check their septic tanks to
make sure they aren’t leaking.• Recycle and reuse the sewage.• Clean the sewage with nontoxic chemicals
(which are oxygen based).• Countries need to develop sewage
treatment plants and build extra pipes and storage tanks underground.
